On Friday, January 30, Planned Parenthood Federation of America filed to withdraw its lawsuit challenging the historic defunding of the abortion giant through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. This decision came after a federal appeals court ruled in December that the Trump administration could continue to withhold Medicaid funding from clinics that provide abortions. 

A similar lawsuit launched by Maine Family Planning – yet another chain dependent upon abortion as its main moneymaker – was also withdrawn a few weeks earlier, after The U.S. District Court for the District of Maine ruled against them.

The only lawsuit still in play is a challenge from a coalition of pro-abortion states, but it hasn’t fared any better. Like the two previous lawsuits, the coalition tried for a preliminary injunction that would restore funding while litigation was ongoing but that injunction was struck down.

Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue states:

“We love seeing Planned Parenthood throw in the towel, though it comes as no surprise. Operation Rescue has been documenting the steady implosion of Planned Parenthood for more than a year. Its affiliates are rife with internal turmoil, employees have come forward to blow the whistle on abuse and mismanagement of funds, and it’s losing more than Medicaid funding. Thanks to Trump’s recent defunding of research involving aborted fetal tissue, Planned Parenthood’s steady flow of profit from the illegal sale of aborted baby body parts is also about to dry up – something Operation Rescue has been calling for since 2015, when we helped co-found the Center for Medical Progress and expose Planned Parenthood’s criminal revenue streams from aborted babies.

“Planned Parenthood, like the rest of the abortion industry, has always survived on political prowess gained through fraud and deception. Americans are starting to see the face behind the mask, and we are tired of our taxpayer money funding it. To Planned Parenthood and their slimy attorneys I’d say, don’t let the courthouse doors hit you on the way out.”
