Trenton, NJ – Abortionist Vikram Kaji, 82, whose long list of troubles include sex offenses against his patients, has agreed to stop practicing medicine and halt his work as Medical Director for the nefarious abortion chain American Women’s Services pending the filing of a verified complaint against him by the State of New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety Division of Consumer Affairs and the State Board of Medical Examiners.
According to a consent agreement dated May 8, 2018, the Board of Medical Examiners was about to file complaint against Kaji after new evidence surfaced that Kaji is “currently impaired and unable to discharge the functions of a licensee in a manner consistent with the public’s health. safety, and welfare.”
The consent agreement was reached after Kaji agreed to stop practicing medicine in exchange for more time to mount a defense.
That agreement also prohibits Kaji even entering any of the nine abortion offices that he once presided over as an abortionist.
That new information noted in the consent agreement came from one of Operation Rescue’s confidential informants who filed a complaint last year against Kaji and his boss, disgraced abortion chain owner Steven Chase Brigham, and was later interviewed by the New Jersey Attorney General’s office.
“Kaji is 82-years old and still doing surgical abortions — along and overseeing as many as nine medical facilities. That is a horrifying fact when you consider his mental issues that have been ongoing for many years,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “His kids have probably already taken away the car keys. There is no doubt that his medical license should be revoked as well.”
Kaji’s competence was first questioned in 2013, after numerous deficiencies were discovered during an inspection, forcing him to admit to having suffered a stroke. Kaji was ordered to undergo a neuropsychological evaluation and other tests to determine his competence.
In 2015, Kaji was again embroiled in what the Attorney General’s office called a “sham” transfer of ownership of the American Women’s Services abortion chain from Brigham. Brigham was forced to relinquish control after his medical license was revoked for having operated an illegal bi-state late-term abortion scheme that nearly cost one patient her life. That case also resulted in Brigham’s arrest on charges he murdered as many as 35 late-term babies at a secret abortion clinic in Elkton, Maryland. The criminal charges were later dropped.
However, when questioned about the business transfer, Kaji told investigators that he was unaware that the business had been transferred to him and insisted that it was Brigham that “ran the show.”
Earlier, Operation Rescue had submitted a letter of complaint to Deputy Attorney General Warhaftig on detailing and documenting concerns that Brigham never actually transferred ownership to Kaji. The letter pointed out that Brigham had a pattern of concealing ownership in his clinics.
In 1993, Kaji was convicted by the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners for having improper sexual contact with three patients. He was accused of giving improper breast and rectal exams to two women.
In addition, Kaji reportedly had sex with one young girl at his office during business hours and later plied her with drugs. He knew his victim was vulnerable to his advances because she had been a depressed victim of child sex abuse with a history of psychiatric hospitalization. Kaji admitted that he had made an error in moral judgment.
The Board of Medical Examiners placed Kaji on a 1-year suspension, fined him $5,000, and ordered him to undergo psychological counseling.
Meanwhile, it is unknown how the loss of Kaji has affected Brigham’s New Jersey abortion facilities. Brigham continues to operate the shoddy and often dangerous abortion clinics as the business administrator. He is barred from having any control over the medical side of the abortion business.
“Many times, Brigham has been proved to be a liar and a deceiver. There is no doubt in my mind that he is still running all aspects of his American Women’s Services abortion business. He just used Kaji as a tool to cover for his continued involvement,” said Newman. “But Kaji is far from innocent, and poses a serious threat to women’s lives because of his age and diminished mental capacity. When all is said and done, we hope to see his medical license permanently revoked.
