Washington, DC – Despite dramatic efforts by abortion radicals to protect the abortion cartel at all costs in Congress, the Senate passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act last week with defunding for Planned Parenthood still intact.
Though this marks the first time in recent history that Congress actually committed to defunding purveyors of child-killing like Planned Parenthood, the Senate drastically reduced defunding written into the House version of the bill from a full decade to just one year.
The House quickly passed the final version and President Trump signed the bill on July 4, Independence Day. For one year, Planned Parenthood will not receive federal funding.
“We’ll make the most of one year,” says Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “And we’re grateful for the Trump administration’s pro-life support. However, it’s tough to celebrate this as a substantial victory when we know Congress can do so much more. Congress has the ability to defund Planned Parenthood forever – and they should, especially considering how much scandalous criminality the abortion giant has been involved in.”
Operation Rescue is a watchdog organization that has spent decades uncovering the criminal activity and egregious medical negligence that goes on in Planned Parenthoods.
In the last six months alone, the anti-abortion organization has investigated 23 injuries across 12 different Planned Parenthoods, including the tragic death of 18-year-old Lexi Arguello.
Newman also co-founded the investigative journalist group Center for Medical Progress, which uncovered Planned Parenthood’s illegal sale of baby body parts over a decade ago. That damning evidence has been put to good use over the last several years and has undoubtedly helped America – legislators included – see the real face of Planned Parenthood.
“There is no doubt that Planned Parenthood is imploding,” says Newman. “More dysfunction, abuse, and medical negligence seems to come to light every week. Pile on the removal of Planned Parenthood’s federal safety net of taxpayer funding for 365 days and there will certainly be an impact. Preborn children that Planned Parenthood can’t stand to let live will be saved, as will the lives of mothers that Planned Parenthood so often injures, maims, and even kills with no remorse. But we need more from Congress.”
“I’m not sure why it’s taken Congress this long to accomplish something they should have done long ago, and I’m thankful they’ve finally taken this crucial step. But there is much more work to do, more of the truth to be made known. At Operation Rescue, we are continuing to uncover the inconvenient truth that Planned Parenthood kills instead of cares, and we pray Congress, in response to this growing body of evidence, will soon defund child-killing in this nation altogether. Not for just one year, but forever.”
