NEWTON, KS — The Truth Truck was invited to attend the National Day of Prayer Service held at the county courthouse square in Newton, Kansas, on Thursday, May 5. Organizer Pastor Vern Bender invited Operation Rescue to bring the large panel trucks emblazoned with photos of aborted babies to draw special attention to the plight of the pre-born.
Over 100 townspeople attended the service, which included gospel music, and a presentation by David Gittrich of Kansans for Life, who spoke of the need to stand against abortion and euthanasia in our communities.
The featured speaker was Gracia Burnham, a missionary who was captured, along with her husband, by rebel terrorists in the Philippines. Her husband was killed during the military raid to free them. Mrs. Burnham has since written a book about their ordeal.
“It is not everyday we get invited to such an event,” said OR spokesperson Cheryl Sullenger. “Most Christians would rather not think about, much less face the brutal truth of abortion. We appreciate Pastor Bender’s heart for the Lord and for the pre-born, and pray our presence there touched those who attended to encourage them to stand against the devastating sin of child-killing.”
