Dear Friends,

It is with great sadness that we must now tell you that Kortney Blythe Gordon, an amazing young pro-life leader with Students for Life, was killed in a tragic car accident on Saturday evening in Georgia, returning from a pro-life event. To compound the tragedy, Kortney was five month pregnant with her first child, a daughter named Sophy, who also died in the accident.
Kortney was a long-time friend of Operation Rescue and today our hearts are heavy from the loss. We ask that you pray for her husband, Benjamin, and the rest of the Blythe and Gordon families as they go through a very difficult process of grieving.
Also in the car with Kortney was Student for Life staff member Jon Scharfenberger. He remains in critical condition at a hospital in Georgia. We also ask that you remember him and his family in your prayers.
Tonight, there will be a webcast at 5:00 PM (Eastern) for all who wish to pray and offer their words of support for Kortney’s family and of encouragement for Jon. David Bereit of 40 Days for Life, Reverend Pat Mahoney of Christian Defense Coalition, and Claude Allen of Gerard Health Foundation will be on the call to lead us in prayer and discussion to honor the lives of Kortney and her daughter Sophy, and to offer words of encouragement for Jon and his family. You may join the webcast by clicking here: http://instantteleseminar.com/?eventid=23295666
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Gordon and Blythe families and will continue to hold up Jon and the entire Students for Life staff in our prayers. We take comfort in knowing that Kortney and Sophy are now resting in the loving arms of Jesus and that Kortney is receiving her reward as a good and faithful servant.
In God’s Grace,
Troy Newman
