Washington, D.C. – The first annual Veritas Award has been conferred by Operation Rescue on Planned Parenthood’s Senior Director of Medical Services Deborah Nucatola, who became nationally known for her cavalier comments caught on video about committing banned partial-birth late-term abortions in order to harvest aborted baby parts for illegal financial consideration.
The Veritas Award, named for the Latin word for “truth,” will be awarded annually to an abortion supporter whose words or actions are so powerfully truthful about the reality and barbarity of abortion that they advance the pro-life cause.
“For abortionists, there are two ways to speak about abortion. First is the scripted ‘Orwellian’ rhetoric that sanitizes abortion, which is used to influence public support. Then there is the unvarnished truth spoken in unguarded moments without public relations in mind,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “When abortionists speak about their work candidly and truthfully, they actually prove in the most powerful ways why abortion cannot be tolerated in a civilized society.”
Nucatola was featured in the first undercover video summary released by the Center for Medical Progress last July. Her recorded comments shocked the public, launched numerous state investigations, and initiated a special Congressional inquiry into Planned Parenthood’s organ-harvesting practices. Abortion has become an influential issue in the Presidential Election since Nucatola’s comments were publicized.
“While other Planned Parenthood abortionists featured in the CMP videos each had their own shocking revelations, it was Deborah Nucatola’s cavalier discussions about Planned Parenthood’s fetal tissue harvesting that first captured America’s attention and shifted the national debate on abortion. Her words did more to set back the Abortion Cartel than nearly any spoken by pro-life spokesmen,” said Newman. “For this reason, Deborah Nucatola is the natural choice for our 2015 Veritas Award.”
Nucatola was seen on video munching salad and sipping wine as she discussed the demand for certain fetal organs and described her method of crushing the baby in the womb to preserve the valuable organs.
“I’d say a lot of people want liver,” Nucatola noted while waving her salad fork, then proudly elaborated Planned Parenthood’s illegally altered abortion procedures.
“We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact,” she said.
The banality of Nucatola’s startling and grisly lunch-time admissions forced an unprecedented apology video by Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards along with her admission that some Planned Parenthood affiliates were in fact engaged in the harvesting of organs from babies aborted at their facilities.
While Planned Parenthood has portrayed the summary videos as “doctored” or “deceptively edited” in a desperate effort to cast doubt on their content, an independent forensics analysis has verified that none of the audio was tampered with and that the videos accurately portrayed the content of the conversations.
