Cleveland, OH – Newly obtained 911 records reveal that a Cleveland Surgi-Center abortion patient was rushed to the hospital after a clinic worker called 911 and reported that she had passed out and was turning pale due to apparent blood loss.
According to pro-life witnesses on the scene, the woman arrived at the Cleveland Surgi-Center abortion clinic shortly after it opened at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2012.
“She could not walk on her own. The ambulance arrived about 10-15 minutes later. As far as we know, Surgi-Center does surgical abortions only on Saturday mornings and the abortionist had not arrived yet,” Pastor Dale Henkel told Operation Rescue.
“Based on the records and eyewitness accounts, it appears that the patient suffered a from a chemical abortion gone bad,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue and Pro-Life Nation.
A clinic worker placed the 911 call from her cell phone, which dropped the call twice, costing valuable time as the dispatcher had to keep calling her back. Finally the worker was able to communicate the problem to the dispatcher.
“It’s a patient I have. She’s in the process of having an abortion. She’s bleeding heavily – heavily, and she’s all passed out. Well, she’s up now, but my nurse said she had passed out,” the clinic worker said.
The worker later told the dispatcher that the 30-year old woman was turning pale and was suffering from abdominal pain. Workers put the woman into a wheelchair and wheeled her down a flight of stairs so that emergency workers could access her.
Operation Rescue has documented 31 medical emergencies this year alone at abortion clinics nationwide, with several additional reports for which no documentation is not yet available. The incident at Cleveland Surgi-Center is the third abortion complication documented at Cleveland abortion clinics this year. Two previous incidents took place at Martin Ruddock’s Abortion Access Center for Women’s Health in September and November.
“These incidents show a disturbing pattern of abortion abuses that are systemic throughout the abortion cartel. There is no such thing as a ‘safe’ abortion clinic. Every one we have ever looked at has been in violation of the law. Abortionists routinely dump their problems on emergency workers and provide little or nothing in terms of continuity of care. This presents a serious public health care crisis that need to be seriously addressed in every state,” said Newman.
