Dayton, OH – For the second time in four weeks, the Women’s Med Center, a troubled late-term abortion facility owned by nationally-known abortionist Martin Haskell has placed a 911 call for help with a patient suffering a serious medical emergency.

The Women’s Med Center is known to be one of six abortion facilities in the U.S. that conduct abortions throughout all nine months of pregnancy.

The most recent incident, which happened on March 7, 2019, involved a 26-year old woman who was hemorrhaging after a surgical abortion.  Efforts by Women’s Med Center staff to halt the hemorrhaging were obviously unsuccessful.

The woman was treated by the emergency responders then rushed to Miami Valley Hospital in an ambulance that used lights and sirens during the transport.  The entire incident from dispatch to arrival at the hospital emergency room took 31 minutes, a total of 15 of which were spent in transit to and from the abortion facility.

The previous emergency on February 7, 2019, involved a post-abortive unconscious woman suffering a seizure that clinic staff could not get under control.

“The reckless actions of this so-called ‘healthcare’ facility continues to harm women,” said Margie Christie, Executive Director, Dayton Right to Life, in a written statement.  “In just the last 3 years, this facility has had four 9-1-1 calls and has been investigated by the State of Ohio for treating a patient without consent. It is time for this community to speak up and say ‘enough is enough.’”

The Women’s Med Center has been locked in a legal battle with the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) since 2015, when the ODH ordered it to close after determining that it was not in compliance with ambulatory surgical facility licensing regulations that required abortionists to maintain hospital privileges or obtain a variance using an approved hospital transfer agreement.

The notorious abortion facility has been allowed to continue operating while the legal action is pending, even though its last approved license expired in 2012.

In August 2018, a judge upheld the ODH decision to revoke its ambulatory surgical facility license.  A hearing today on Haskell’s appeal of that decision was today, March 12, 2019, in the Ohio 2nd District Court of Appeals.  Operation Rescue will update on the results of that hearing as soon as it is available.

“This abortion clinic should have been closed a long time ago.  Meanwhile, the ambulances continue to transport one woman after another, which should be proof enough that the Women’s Med Center is too dangerous to operate,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue.  “It should be shut down immediately.”
