Cherry Hill, NJ — Another woman has been rushed to the hospital following a serious medical complication at Cherry Hill Women’s Center in New Jersey. This time, the patient was 25 weeks pregnant when she suffered a uterine perforation during an abortion procedure likely performed by abortionist Lisa Perriera.

A 911 recording obtained by Operation Rescue captures Perriera personally calling emergency dispatch to report the injury. Throughout the call, Perriera seems careful not to say whether or not she is the one responsible for the life-threatening injury.

“Hi, um, this is Doctor Perriera at Cherry Hill Women’s Center,” she begins before telling the dispatcher, “We have a patient that, we have confirmed has a uterine perforation.” The call was transferred to the medical dispatch center, where Perriera provided additional information about the patient’s condition.

“We just completed a procedure at 25 weeks’ gestation on the patient; there was concern for a uterine perforation. Patient is clinically stable, but she needs to be transferred,” Perriera tells the dispatcher.

Although Perriera initially described the perforation as confirmed, she subsequently referred to it as a “concern” when explaining the situation to the second dispatcher. Regardless of that distinction, the recording establishes that the clinic identified a potentially serious injury requiring emergency hospital transfer immediately following a second trimester abortion.

“We Have to Have a Detailed Explanation of What We Found”

Perhaps one of the more revealing moments in the recording occurs while the call is being transferred. Although Perriera is no longer speaking directly to the dispatcher, her conversation with someone else at the clinic can be heard in the background.

“Go and write your note and we have to have a detailed explanation of what we found,” she says.

The statement raises questions about what the clinic discovered during the procedure, when the perforation was identified, and what details were being documented in the patient’s medical record.

Uterine perforation occurs when an instrument penetrates the wall of the uterus. Depending on the severity of the injury, it can result in significant internal bleeding, damage to surrounding organs, and potentially life-threatening complications. Emergency care that no abortion clinic is equipped to offer is necessary to determine the extent of the injury and whether surgical intervention is required.

While Perriera described the patient as clinically stable, that does not mean the injury was minor or that the patient was out of danger.

A History of Serious Patient Injuries

The October 14 emergency is not the first time Perriera has been connected to a serious patient injury at Cherry Hill Women’s Center.

On April 4, 2025, emergency personnel were called to the same facility after a 37-year-old woman experienced complications during an abortion procedure. According to records obtained by Operation Rescue, clinic personnel contacted 911, and Perriera eventually took the phone to speak directly with the dispatcher. Emergency radio dispatch recordings subsequently confirmed that the patient was experiencing hemorrhaging and required emergency transport.

But Perriera’s notorious history of patient complications extends even beyond New Jersey.

On March 21, 2014, 22-year-old Lakisha Wilson underwent a second-trimester abortion at Preterm abortion facility in Cleveland, Ohio. Perriera performed the abortion.

Wilson suffered a catastrophic medical emergency following the procedure. Emergency personnel were called to the facility after she became unresponsive and stopped breathing. She was transported to University Hospitals Case Medical Center, where she remained in a coma until her death on March 28, 2014.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner subsequently confirmed that Wilson’s death was caused by complications from the abortion.

Operation Rescue investigated Wilson’s death and raised serious concerns about the facility’s response to her medical emergency, including the handling of the hemorrhage and delays in providing appropriate emergency care.

Perriera’s involvement in Wilson’s death, and the subsequent April 2025 emergency at Cherry Hill, make the latest incident particularly concerning.

How Many More Emergencies?

“The October 14 incident raises serious questions about Perriera’s incompetence and possible negligence when performing dangerous late-term abortions in clinics that are not equipped to handle the injuries she inflicts on women,” says Sarah Neely, Chief Operating Officer of Operation Rescue.

At 25 weeks gestation, the patient was well into the second half of pregnancy. The procedure ended with Perriera reporting a confirmed uterine perforation, requiring emergency transportation to a hospital.

When viewed alongside the April 2025 emergency at the same facility and Perriera’s involvement in the death of Lakisha Wilson, this latest incident deserves more than a passing glance.

“New Jersey health officials and medical licensing authorities should examine the circumstances surrounding these incidents, including the medical records, the physician’s documentation, as well as the timing of the injury,” says President of Operation Rescue, Troy Newman. He adds, “However, none of that is likely to happen as New Jersey officials have chosen to remove any licensing requirements for abortion clinics while other facilities are held to a completely different standard.

Despite abortion clinics not being required to go through licensing, investigations, or discipline from the state, Perriera can still be investigated by the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners.

Neely comments, “Operation Rescue still has an open complaint with the Board for Perriera’s botched abortion in 2025, and we will waste no time alerting the Board to this recent perforation. We are calling for an immediate investigation.

Women deserve better than unregulated clinics, injuries without investigation, and emergency transport from a supposed “medical” clinic. When serious medical emergencies continue to occur, someone needs to ask why – and state officials need to provide an answer

“Women deserve to know that these unregulated clinics are not prioritizing their safety. And when serious injuries continue to surface, particularly involving an abortionist with a history that includes a patient’s death, Operation Rescue is going to continue to demand an investigation and accountability,” adds Newman.
