Portland, OR — A troubling medical emergency unfolded on July 12, 2025, at the Lilith Clinic in downtown Portland when a 22-year-old woman undergoing a dilation-and-evacuation (D&E) abortion suffered a uterine perforation during the procedure—forcing clinic staff to call emergency medical services.
The Shocking Call and the People Behind It
911 audio records obtained by Operation Rescue revealed these shocking details: not only did the abortionist puncture the young woman’s uterus, but the abortion was left incomplete, the patient left sedated, and the clinic staff explicitly requested that the ambulance turn off lights and sirens.
The caller identified Kelsey Pinson as the “responsible” abortionist, but the clinic itself is owned by longtime abortionist Charlie Browne, who has been a vocal abortion advocate and provider of late-term, post-viability abortion procedures in Oregon.
“The owner-abortionist, Charlie Browne, has long been associated with second- and third-trimester abortion practices in Oregon, as well as other states such as Washington and Nevada,” says Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “His fanatical relish for abortion not only destroys countless children but also injures women like this 22-year-old whose life will never be the same—and that’s if she even survived. We have little hope that her child did.”
Lilith Clinic’s Late-Term Lie: “Safe and Pain-Free”
The Lilith Clinic was founded in 2021 and is the only independent abortion mill in Oregon. It also has two other clinics connected to it, one in Las Vegas and another in Seattle. All three commit abortions far into the second or third trimester.
Newman adds, “Browne wanted to position this Portland killing center as a successor to the defunct Lovejoy SurgiCenter, also infamous for its late-term abortions.”
Although the Lilith Clinic advertises abortions up to 24 weeks, it indicates that services can extend even further on a case-by-case basis. The clinic publicly claims abortion is “safe and pain-free,” yet this medical emergency tells a far different story.
“This emergency is yet another example of the dangers that the abortion industry tries so hard to conceal,” says Newman. “Abortion is never safe, and women deserve to know that, behind the doors of these clinics, lie real risks, serious injuries, and dishonest people willing to cover them up.”
Oregon’s Abortion Empire
Oregon is one of several states that allows abortion throughout all stages of pregnancy, including the third trimester up to the very moment of birth. There are no gestational limits on abortion procedures. The state also funds abortions through Medicaid, with taxpayer dollars covering virtually all “medically necessary” abortions. It’s no surprise that the other 11 abortion clinics in the state are Planned Parenthoods.
Oregon also does not require parental consent for minors, does not impose waiting periods, and does not mandate informed consent provisions that exist in many other states.
These permissive policies have made Oregon a magnet for abortion-vulnerable women living in states with more protective pro-life laws, as well as late-term abortion seekers from around the country and across borders.
Caring Hearts Needed
“In a region where nobody seems to care about what happens to women after abortion, let alone hold the abortion industry responsible for injuries or deaths, Operation Rescue continues to do everything we can to expose this horrible side of the abortion cartel,” Newman says.
“Without eyewitness reports and our public records request, nobody would likely know about this young woman or consider the alarming details of her incomplete abortion, her lost child, or the audacious treatment she received from an abortion business that puts itself forward as some sort of champion for women. How many more women like her are injured every day in America, and we don’t know because nobody was on the sidewalk that day to see and tell us? The abortion industry certainly isn’t telling anyone, especially not the women they exploit for profit.”
