This week brought several things to celebrate as our movement continues working towards a nation that can recognize the dignity of preborn persons and is shifting towards stronger protections for their lives in the womb.
1. RFK Drops Bombshell Revelation About Abortion Pills
On Thursday, the United States Committee of Finance met with HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy to discuss “The President’s 2026 Health Care Agenda.”
During the hearing, Senator James Lankford directed a question about mifepristone to RFK, asking, “So the question was, you said that there would be a review on [mifepristone] just to be able to look at it, make sure we’re following all safety protocols. Do you know a timing on that review?”
RFK’s bombshell answer outed the Biden administration for burying strong evidence of adverse outcomes related to mifepristone, also known as “safety signals.”
RFK answered, “I can’t give you the exact timing…We’re getting data all the time, new data that we’re reviewing. And we know that during the Biden administration, they actually twisted the data to bury one of the safety signals, was a very high safety signal, around 11%. So we’re going to make sure that that doesn’t happen anymore. We’re producing honest science and gold standard science on that.”
Under the Biden administration, the FDA permanently removed the requirement for an in-person doctor’s visit to obtain mifepristone. It also changed the label of mifepristone to allow retail pharmacies to distribute the drug. Both decisions opened the door wider than ever for dangerous, unregulated virtual suppliers – a group Operation Rescue terms “The Virtual Back-Alley.”
“Operation Rescue has reported for years that the FDA and pro-abortion politicians like Biden and Harris have actively been deceiving Americans about the risks that come with these abortion drugs,” says Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “We applaud RFK for calling out the most pro-abortion administration this country ever saw, and for pushing for an honest assessment of a drug that is harming women and killing innocent children.”
2. Texas Passes Ground-Breaking Law to Hold Abortionists Accountable
On Wednesday, the Texas Senate passed HB7, also known as “The Woman and Child Protection Act.”
HB7 will allow Texas citizens to sue anyone who manufactures, mails, transports, delivers, prescribes, or provides an abortion-inducing drug to anyone in Texas through a qui tam action.
In a qui tam action, a citizen acting as a “relator” can sue on the government’s behalf. However, the government becomes the plaintiff, not the citizen. If the lawsuit succeeds, the relator receives an award. In this case, up to $100,000 exacted from the defendant.
HB7 particularly includes out-of-state abortionists, making the law the first of its kind to challenge pills flowing into abortion-free states, prescribed by abortionists who then hide behind shield laws.
“Abortionists continue to be treated like some privileged class of doctor by governors and lawmakers not even willing to respect the pro-life protections legitimately established by the democratic process in other states,” says Newman. “This is a great step towards holding these abortion pill peddlers accountable and deterring them from targeting preborn children in abortion-free states.”
There are several protections in the bill. Women who receive abortion pills, for example, cannot be held liable, and their name and information cannot be made public. Also, any man who impregnates a woman through sexual assault or domestic violence is not eligible to sue, nor anyone who tricked a woman into ingesting the pills.
In regards to any monetary gain, only the pregnant woman who received abortion pills, or the baby’s father, sibling, or grandparent can be awarded the full $100,000 for bringing suit. Anyone else can only receive $10,000 and the rest must be given to charity.
3. Infamous Late-term Abortion Clinic in DC is Currently Defunct
On Tuesday, pro-life groups involved in a campaign to expose abortionist Cesare Santangelo and his infamous late-term Washington Surgi-Center in DC announced the facility had suspended abortions for the foreseeable future.
Two days later, Live Action reported that the Surgi-Center’s license lapsed on August 10, 2025 and has not yet been renewed.
The Washington Surgi-Center is one of 7 clinics in the US that openly aborts children through all nine months of pregnancy. In August 2022, pro-lifers secured the remains of 115 babies killed there. At least five of those babies, now known as the “D.C. Five,” appeared to have been nearly full-term when they were killed. All five babies are believed to have been murdered after being delivered alive, or killed by partial-birth abortion – a method that was banned in 2003.
“So far, Santangelo has gotten away with these horrors,” says Newman. “But it looks like his criminal tendencies are catching up with him. We pray this clinic closes for good, and we thank God for every life saved while it’s unable to operate. Every win this week is a win for the babies.”
