Operation Rescue’s Troy Newman Endorses Judge Roy Moore in U.S. Senate Special Election

PRESS RELEASE

Montgomery, AL – Operation Rescue President Troy Newman has endorsed Judge Roy Moore to replace former Senator Jeff Sessions, who resigned earlier this year after being appointed to serve the Trump Administration as Attorney General.

Moore is the leading contender in the polls for the Special Election scheduled for August 15, 2017.

“I know Judge Roy Moore to be a dedicated Christian and social conservative who will not compromise on the matters of life. He is staunchly pro-life, and a true defender of religious freedom. I urge all the good people of Alabama to cast their votes for Judge Roy Moore for Senate on August 15,” said Troy Newman.

Newman helped lead a vigil in Montgomery, AL in 2003, in support of Moore’s position that a statue depicting the 10 Commandments should not be removed from the rotunda of the Alabama Judicial Building. The monument was removed over Judge Moore’s objections. Even though it cost him his position as Chief Justice, Judge Moore never wavered on his ruling that the law supported the display.

In 2012, Judge Moore was overwhelmingly re-elected by the people to his old position as Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. But in 2016, Judge Moore once again was punished for his unwillingness to compromise the law when he was suspended for upholding the sanctity of marriage. He retired earlier this year to run for the Senate.

“Judge Moore is a man of faith that based his decisions on the court not on his opinions, but on the law of the land, even though it has cost him personally and professionally. It’s not often we find a political candidate that will do what is right, knowing that negative consequences will come. This is the kind of man of honor and principle we need in Washington, D.C.,” said Newman.

[Correction: Former Sen. Jeff Sessions was appointed as U.S. Attorney General, not Director of the FBI as an earlier version mistakenly reported. OR regrets the error.]

To Vote or Not to Vote, That is the Question

trump

By Troy Newman, President, Operation Rescue

Should I, or should I not, vote for Trump? That is the question racing through my mind since my man, Senator Ted Cruz, dropped out the race. For the record, I was with Cruz from the beginning. The Senator is a principled, pro-life conservative. That is why I backed him all the way to the end. But, now that Cruz is out of the race, I’m faced with a decision – can I vote for Trump?

So, here is what we know: Either it will be President Donald Trump, or (shudder), President Hillary Rodham Clinton and First Lady Bill… If those are really the only two options, I think it might be a simple choice.

Now, before you decide I’ve lost my moral compass, let me cut you off at the pass. I know everything negative that could be said about the Donald – and then some. Yes, Donald has said and done many things that most Christians would find despicable. Shockingly (yes, even to myself), I think I can still vote for him.

To explain my reasoning, I’ve created a pithy acronym out of Trump’s name. These are the reasons I can vote for Trump, and against Hillary Clinton.

Take back the Supreme Court. In order for this country to survive, we must dial back the Supremes. In just the last few years the Court has mandated that we purchase a health care product, marry homosexuals, and is now poised to strike down common sense abortion laws. Hillary has promised more of the same; Trump has promised the opposite. So, Trump wins the SCOTUS vote.

Remove and Replace. Trump has pledged to remove and replace the Abortion Cartel Bailout AKA ObamaCare, and the countless bad laws created by Obama and far-left enablers in Congress. Hillary will absolutely maintain and further them.

Undo! Undo it all. I know Obama ran on “change.” I say change it back! Undo all that “change” and bring America back to some form of sanity. Undo the HHS mandates on abortion subsidies. Undo the EPA mandates that are crippling businesses. Undo the countless, and dare I say illegal, executive orders made by Obama. Trump has a mind to do this.

Make America Great Again. Trump’s nationalistic fervor is appealing. And, I have to admit I like it. Pro-life legislation will help put America back on track. Obama has been making terrible deals all over the world, and the good ol’ U-S-of-A gets the short end of the stick every time. That must stop. Together, we can make America great again – but not under Hillary. Never under Hillary.

Prosecute Planned Parenthood. We have helped expose the dreadful practice of harvesting and selling baby body parts for a large profit. It’s high time these people are taken off the Federal welfare dole, and Trump, for what it’s worth, has promised to prosecute these monsters. Yes, sir, I’ll take that too. Hillary, on the other hand, we already know is Cecile Richards’ BFF. Absolutely nothing doing if she wins.

These are my five very pragmatic reasons why I can vote FOR Donald Trump and AGAINST Hillary Clinton. I know these reasons don’t take into account whether or not Trump is saved, if he is a good father, or even if he is totally honest in his business deals. But, at least he knows how to make money and balance a checkbook. Something Hillary Clinton has never done.

So, yes, I can vote for Trump, but I’m stopping short on an endorsement. If Trump wants the pro-life vote, then he is going to have to earn our support.

Donald Trump needs to name 3 or 4 Supreme Court Justices that he would appoint. He needs to codify his promise to defund Planned Parenthood. He needs to ensure that the pro-life position in the GOP platform is left untouched, or, better yet, made stronger by adding “Defund PP” language! And, we all know that personnel are policy. I’d like to see Trump pre-appoint a cabinet. Who would be his Attorney General to prosecute Planned Parenthood? Who would be the HHS Secretary ensuring that the abortion mandate in ObamaCare is abolished?

Absent these concrete assurances, mine could only be one vote. However, given some rock solid promises, single votes can multiply into a presidency.

  • Kansas Pro-Life Vote Could Determine U.S. Senate Control

Tight Governor’s race also has pro-life advances at stake

    By Cheryl Sullenger

Wichita, Kansas – Kansas pro-life voters have a heavy responsibility on Election Day to make a decision in the ballot booth that is literally one of life and death.

Incumbent Sen. Pat Roberts is the pro-life Republican locked in a pitched battle with pro-abortion Independent, Greg Orman. Real Clear Politics shows Orman with a 0.7 percentage point advantage, making this race a too-close-to-call toss-up.

Orman has been endorsed by all three remaining abortion businesses in Kansas, including a Planned Parenthood organization that barely dodged a 107-count criminal case only because an unknown state official illegally destroyed all the evidence against it in a scandal known in Kansas as “Shreddergate.”

Orman has vowed to caucus with the Democrats, giving them the abortion votes they need to further liberalize abortion in America.

Right now, the Senate is controlled by the Democratic Party, which has stonewalled life-affirming legislation such as the Federal Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which sailed through the House and is heavily supported by the majority of Americans. This Democratically-controlled Senate has also given us the forced abortion funding through Obamacare, even for those who object on religious grounds.

If Roberts were to lose this critical election, it could hurt the Republicans’ chances of taking the Senate, which will only ensure that more anti-life tyranny is foisted on an unwilling American public.

This election literally hangs on whether pro-life voters turn out to the polls.

Incidentally, the Democratic Primary winner, Chad Taylor, suddenly and surprisingly withdrew from the Senate race in favor of the so-called “Independent” Orman. Taylor was involved in the “Shreddergate” scandal. He was asked by State Attorney General Derek Schmidt to investigate the evidence destruction in the Planned Parenthood criminal case involving illegal late-term abortions and manufacturing ‘evidence” to cover their crimes. Instead, Taylor simply stated that his sham of an investigation only showed no documents were destroyed on one particular date. Thanks to Taylor, no one was ever held accountable for the criminal act of destroying the evidence against Planned Parenthood and obstruction of justice.

Taylor was a witting pawn of the abortion lobby and would never have withdrawn in favor of Orman if he didn’t think Orman would be just as malleable to the abortion cartel.

While pro-life voters have at times been disappointed by Roberts, he still maintains a 100% pro-life voting record.

However, Orman would be a monumental mistake that could cost innocent lives and be the vote needed for the Democrats to expand abortion services, which, thankfully, have recently been contracting due to pro-life legislation at the state level.

In addition, Kansans are being asked to cast their crucially important votes for Governor of Kansas in another election squeaker.

Pro-life Republican Gov. Sam Brownback is in the fight of his political life against pro-abortion Democratic challenger Paul Davis. The fact that Real Clear Politics has Davis up by 2.3 percent over Brownback, should provide ample motivation to drive every pro-life Kansan to the polls.

If pro-life voters stay home, Davis would return Kansas to an era of abortion corruption akin to that overseen by abortion crusader Kathleen Sebelius, who wined and dined with abortionists Planned Parenthood and George Tiller while shielding them from were under very public criminal investigations.

We simply cannot turn back the clock to those dark days!

Davis’ election would undo the pro-life advances that have reduced abortions in Kansas to the lowest levels ever recorded in that state.

On November 4, I am going to the polls and I am casting votes for Sen. Pat Roberts and Gov. Sam Brownback. Then I will anxiously watch the evening’s election results and pray – for the sake of those yet to come — that other Kansans did the same.

Political Favors, Biases Should Disqualify Steve Six from Federal Bench

Washington, DC – A Senate confirmation hearing is scheduled to be held Tuesday afternoon concerning Pres. Barack Obama’s nomination of former Kansas Attorney General Steve Six to the United States 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver.

“Steve Six is not his own man and would not be an independent jurist if this nomination is confirmed. He has a proven track record of granting favors to political benefactors and allowing personal and political biases to taint his professional decisions,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “Six is not fit to serve.”

Six’s ascension to state office followed a contentious and scandal-ridden political battle over abortion, which continued unabated under his administration.

Six was appointed by former Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, now Secretary of Health and Human Services, a rabid abortion supporter who was known for appointing ideological soul-mates to positions that would insulate abortionists from accountability to the law.

As a Sebelius puppet, Six hindered and obstructed active prosecutions of abortionists despite several District Court Judges’ findings of probable cause.

While serving as Johnson County District Attorney, Phill Kline filed 107 criminal charges against Comprehensive Health of Planned Parenthood. Six rushed to the Kansas Supreme Court to obtain a gag order on spurious grounds against the judge who was custodian of the incriminating evidence. That action prohibited the release of evidence to prosecutors and caused a three-year delay in prosecution that continues today.

Six tied the hands prosecutor Barry Disney during the trial of late-term abortionist George Tiller by accepting a pre-trial stipulation that disabled the prosecution and by limiting the strategy that Disney could employ. Tiller was acquitted, but the Kansas Board of Healing Arts was convinced Tiller had committed violations and filed a disciplinary action against him that was pending at the time of Tiller’s death.

Six also showed unprofessional bias when he allowed Disney to access evidence in his weak prosecution of Tiller, but denied Kline access to the same files for his prosecution of Planned Parenthood.

“In the interest of an impartial judiciary, we urge the Senate Judiciary Committee to deny Six’s confirmation to the Federal Appeals Court,” said Newman.

The Six Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at 2:30 PM at the Dirksen Senate Office Building, Room 226.

OR encourages the public to contact the Senate Judiciary Committee in opposition to the confirmation of Steve Six to the Federal Appeals Court.
