Dawdalea Ravenell’s death effected my family in a very personal way. I went to school with her parents, Preston & Ruth Ravenell. When Dawdalea died, I was not aware that my teenage daughter was pregnant also. Without my knowledge, she was planning to have an abortion, too. However, Dawdalea’s death changed her mind. My granddaughter is now 19 years old. I wish other women & teens would wake up,smell the coffee, & stop the slaughter!!!!
linda
thanks for that testimony. the truth is getting out, one testimony at a time, and the proabortion house of cards is crumbling. every human life is valuable, and to kill a child before it’s born is to play God.
thats comletely right about doctors not having the right to play god iam strongly aginst abortion, i like your web site and keep it up, i think it would go a lot smoother if you did not have the pictures they hurt my heart but they take my mind off abortion when i look at them and make me think ‘why would these people show these poor inocent babies like this’. they dont deserve that.
Sara/Cassie:
You are right, the pictures are so sad and pathetic. I’d like to encourage you – in love – to take your thoughts of disgust one step further, beyond the messenger to the the message. Think on this simple thought: “When the killing stops, there will be no photos to show.”
You guys are doing a wonderful job. Continue fighting for the rights of women and the unborn.
I really think that logic should be reintroduced in our education system to help people reason with their mind not their passions. Some say it is safe – so we should kill! Another says it is not anything anybody wants, but it is legal for a reason – no wonder reason has been lost! Wonder of wonders, someone claims to be catholic but pro choice – hypocrisy!
This is a proof of how ignorance destroys society. Abortion will always be murder of the worst kind, because the victim is defenceless. Abortion clinics will always be seen as being worse than concentration camps. More people are slaughtered in these clinics. Is this the freedom we want?
Martin
Abortion is an unfortunate choice that ends potential lives if let developed especially when it involves a viable fetus. However the main thing is that a fetus is using the body and before viability can’t survive without it plus doesn’t have the same level of life functions the mother has like the cerebral cortex so should it be considered a whole person before viability? Is there any non-religious reason an embryo honestly be equal to a mother with regards as whether to legalize abortion or not? The best answer I ever got was DNA but a tumor has its own DNA too. Abortions have potential for death and complications on occasion but so does many other medical procedures and medications but we can’t ban them based on some unfortunate deaths unless a huge pattern exists like “Vioxx”.
I would do anything just to have one for myself…i would like to talk to a women that want a Abortion… just help her change her mind maybe they could give it to me … like i said i’ll do anything to have one ..
I must say that the deaths of these women are very sad and tragic. However, many other women who have abortions go on to live long, healthy lives. If you do your research, you will learn that statistically death for the woman tends to occur only once per 100,000 abortions, whereas the death rate for carrying the pregnancy to term, while still pretty low, is much higher — 1 per 8000 births. Do you not think that a women should be able to choose the safer, less risky alternative of abortion? Yes, it is certainly admirable when a woman chooses to go through childbirth in spite of all its risks, but she shouldn’t be forced to go through it if she does not want to.
paige
i think was is even more sad and tragic is the shopworn propoganda you have spewed. those aren’t factual figures – you have no earthly idea what you are talking about. most deaths which are due to abortion are not reported as such. one reason is that a death caused by a botched abortion is rarely ever reported to any authority – in other words, when a woman dies during the abortion procedure, the “doctor” can list any cause he’d like, and is not likely to list his own shoddy work as the reason for her death. so he will list something like ‘cardiac failure’ or ‘loss of blood’, etc…. but the abortion was still the reason. statistics regarding abortion are not entirely reliable, because abortionists are almost totally unregulated.
thirdly, the suicide rate for women who abort a child is much, much higher than almost any other category. it is a proven fact that a woman who carries to term is almost always healthier as a result – morally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically. deaths which result from a problem pregnancy are rare, and almost never happen if there is any kind of decent prenatal care. so i don’t know where you got your statistics – a cracker jack box, perhaps?
fourth, women who choose death for their children are at a higher risk for breast cancer, a higher risk for ectopic pregnancies, a higher risk for suicide (as i pointed out above), a higher risk for problems with future pregnancies, a distinct possibility of sterility as caused by the abortion, etc……. not to mention myriad emotional problems that are well documented and undeniable.
as far as whether women should be “allowed” to make the choice that results in a dead child, the same argument could be used by a mother who decided she didn’t want to raise her children anymore. the woman who drowned her kids in the bathtub was using the EXACT same logic you are advocating. the only difference was the age, level of development, and place of residence of those children. but the result (dead children) and motives (don’t want to be a mother right now) were exactly the same.
a real feminist will fight for the right to good prenatal care, and advocate moral and financial support for mother AND child. but a woman who advocates death for children as an option is abdicating her natural God-given role as a ‘life-giver’, and makes a mockery out of the word ‘mother’. yes, she can be forgiven after making the horrible choice of having her child killed, but it doesn’t change what happened.
a woman who doesn’t want to ‘go through’ childbirth if she doesn’t want to can abstain from sex, or she can utilize any one of a number of contraceptive options. (perhaps you’ve heard paige, but sex has been proven to lead to pregnancy in many cases.) but once a woman is pregnant, there is another life to consider.
as far as your ridiculous post, rodney, please….those are some of the most tired and foolish arguments any poor choicer can use. surely you can do better than that. then again, it’s doubtful you can, since all the poor choice arguments are weak and rehashed. the child is distinctly human at conception – viability is a legal term, not a medical one. judging a human being’s worth based on the kind of qualities you referenced would tend to disqualify many of us, at different points in life. there is no such thing as a ‘whole person’. there are only ‘persons’. it’s called humanity, rodney. all members of the human family are part of humanity, no matter what their age, level of development, or place of residence.
that is, if one is civilized, and sometimes i wonder about you poor choicers….
I can’t believe the audacity of this web site and many others who victomize the victom in the name of your cause. My mother died from a legal abortion. I am sorry to say that recently I have found her name splattered on many pro-life web sites, including yours. This is unjust and unfair to her family. I find it amazing that this web site and others have taken it upon themselves to use her name without the permission of her family. Did it ever occur to you that her children and grandchildren might see her name plastered to your web site? How do you think that makes her family feel? Well I can assure you it doesn’t feel good. We feel violated and victomized. I also want to draw attention to the fact that my mother was very PRO-CHOICE, that is why she chose to have an abortion. It was not forced upon her. You sort of defeat the pupose of your arguement by putting the names of women who have died from an abortion on your web site. These women were obviously very much PRO-CHOICE as well. You say your so concerned about the unborn children and the women who have died, but where is the concern for the children and family members that are still alive. Your compassion and concern are very misplaced. It’s more like you will do anything, even victomize innocent people just like you claim PRO-CHOICE supporters do, to support a cause that in my opinion is a very personal issue. I hope in the future the makers of this web site seek permission before using the names of the dead when debating an issue as sensitive as abortion.
Truely Offended,
L.Manni
L.Manni,
I, too, am in the same position as you. My mother’s name is everywhere about this issue and my family hates it. And she would too. No one has ever contacted any of us to see if we minded if they used her name or case. Probably because we WOULD mind. My mother died from a botched abortion that ended up being blamed on her. It is incompetant medical personnel that we have a problem with. None of these anit-abortion sites who use her name to further their cause ever ask why these women went for an abortion. Just jump all over the cause of anti-abortion, rather than safe medical care. Maybe some of these women who have died from these abortions had medical reasons for having an abortion. Maybe their pregnancy resulted from rape. But these hypothetical theories are completely overlooked in their zeal to further their “cause”.
I believe each person has the right to make up their own mind about what is right or wrong. No one else can make those decisions for them. What is right for me may be wrong for another, but I cannot force that person to believe that way, nor should I ever think it is ok to try to do so. Or to degrade a person for their beliefs.
We do not want our mother being a poster child for a movement that she did not believe in. Isn’t that a bit hypocritical to use someone to further your cause when they are/were against it?
B. Prisbrey
B. Prisbrey,
Excuse me, but have you even looked a the rest of this web site? Pro-lifers invested quite a bit of time trying to regulate abortions in KS in order to protect women from predatory abortionists who are unfit to practice medicine. (In my opinion, that is the vast majority of abortionists, if not all of them.)
http://www.operationrescue.org/?p=31
Your mother died at the hands on one of these butchers, and that is the point of the list. It is not so much to advocate the “anti-abortion” position as it is to expose the fact that so-called “legal” abortions are not safe because of unregulated mills, abortionists who are not monitored or disciplined as they should be, and corrupt officials who cover up for them. All these things elements endanger the lives of women.
Your mother is a case in point that women are not safe in these chop-shops, and that is something I would be willing to bet is a message she would give anything to tell others now, but can’t.
This website, while in good heart, is clearly just an example of the extremism that people feel about abortion still. Are you trying to say that, no matter what, a girl can’t get an abortion? I suppose there are points at which you claim you should “protect the woman and the baby” but it seems that the term is merely an attempt to disguise your true statement — that anyone who gets an abortion is a murderer. Don’t murder babies! Save their lives! What about overpopulation? What about the mother herself? You think you have compassion by siding with the child but what about the mother? That is where your real compassion should be. Can a baby vote? Can a baby contribute to society? Time and time again, scientists have said that babies are parasites in their most elementary form — and that is completely true. I’m not victimizing the child by that but merely restating the facts. Should a woman not have an abortion if she could suffer the penalty of death for giving birth? Always think of the baby, always think of the baby. Baby, baby, baby. We should change everything else instead, right? Well until that happens, should these mothers suffer death for the good of the children? What about when those kids whose mothers are murdered for having their children grow up? They’ll be messed up and victimized by their society for life.
Californiq’s prop.73 is possibly the last oportunity of parents to save their children from the prevailing hedonistic and athiest values in schools for the promotion of anarchy and ultimately eugenics by the left wing hitlarian/marxists in our society. The left wing is desperate to maintain uncontrolled abortion policies at any cost. Their purpose is to create a special class of super humans in an athiest society with hedonistic and materialistic values. What are your children learning in public schools? What is their understanding of the Nuclear Family and the value of the Nuclear Family? What is their value of humanity and life? The left sees the family as any group of people who attach for any length of time that serves a purpose for pleasure gratification. Hitlar would never have been able to convince so many people to commmit genocide against another group of people if he hadn’t been able to dehumanize them first. The fight by the Left in Pensylvania now is over the words “unborn Child”. Why? Because those words humanize an unborn human being. Teenage girls in schools are taught that they cannot control sexual urge, and that their parents will abuse them if they go against their family values. They are taught that their parents are their enemies, and the school counsellors are their friends. They are led to believe that parents “just don’t want them to be happy”. Planned parenthood and NARAL want teens and women to believe that abortion is completely safe when instead it is no less dangerous than open heart surgery, The woumb when not pregnant is about two inches thick in some areas and as hard as a rock. In the early stages of pregnancy, it is like a cloud. The process of differentiating the unborn child, placenta and uterine lining (desidua) from the uterous is almost impossible. The chances of uterine laceration, perforation, infection and hemorrhage are high. If proposition 73 in Calif. fails, and schools are allowed to take children to abortion clinics without parents knowledge; I hope when children die from the abortions and neglect post abortion that the public school systems and school officials will be sued out of business. As usual they will try to blame parents. Who has taken accountability for all of the deaths that have occured so far because of legal abortion?
I notice two people here who say that their mothers died from legal abortions and that their names are “plastered all over the web,” but they don’t say who their mothers were and ask to have the names taken down or changed to something like “Jane Doe” to preserve privacy.
The only times family members have contacted me about abortion deaths I’ve posted were to ask me for more information. It’s very difficult to get information about exactly what happened without filing a lawsuit, and these folks somehow hope that I’ll know something that they were unable to find out. Nobody’s ever asked me to take a name off the list.
I am doing a research paper on a persuasive report against abortion. Can you email me some more statistics on the number of women who have been killed due to complications of the abortions. Thankyou so much.
cirtappesoj@aol.com
The real reason no one wants their name posted is because
what they have done is shameful.
So much for the myth that legal abortion saves lives. Even if it did we must still stand against abortion because JUSTICE requires us to protect human life. We are called to rescue those being led away to death(Pro 24:11) This info, however destroys a major con-job of the pro-abort:legal abortion kills mothers as well as babies
Hello Everyone,
I think that these posts have shown a good amount of exchange and discussion, which is good, and not easy based on the very different views and backgrounds of those posting.
A point I wanted to raise about the number of women who die from legal abortions:
Does it not seem likely that if abortion were to be illegal, more women would die from attempting to get abortions from less reputable sources or doing it themselves, then they do now from certified doctors and clinics? I am sure that we have all heard about women attempting to give themselves an abortion with a coat hanger or by throwing themselves down the stairs. These are the extreme, but it seems stills indisputable that many women would still try to get abortions despite their illegal nature, and that their efforts would be more dangerous based on less safe procedures.
I realize that allowing something to be legal that one believes is morally wrong does not make sense. It is also noted that some people (for instance Jerome, above who posted on April 23rd and Rosy, Aug 14th) believe that the doctors who do abortions are not the best. Still compared with the alternative…
I would really like to have ongoing dialogues about the aforementioned consideration about the number of deaths due to abortions increasing if it were illegal and other abortion issues. I can be contacted at tomusebox4321@yahoo.com
Thanks for reading this post,
Tommy
i am slightly confused. women die from aborting there babies? or is it that sumone performed an abortion on them when they were babies that was defaulty and went wrong that long afterwards?
please send me an email to answer my question
lost_under_the_surface@msn.com
nonetheless, these are sum truely horrific facts. too much inocent blood has been spilt.
To Paul (who posted on 2/14/06 at 5:55am:
The reason for my full name not being posted was NOT due to shame. Why would I be ashamed of posting? I am NOT ashamed of my mother, a woman who gave birth to me and who I still love and miss.
However, any time I have ever posted my name and my mother’s name, I get horrible, ugly emails, ranging from how evil my mother was and how horrible I am for not supporting the anti-abortion movement. My mother was murdered, plain and simple. I support victim’s rights, etc. My mother’s “doctor” should have been criminally charged with murder, but he was not. All the blame was put on her, but it was not her fault.
But it is us, her children, who pay the price. Having to hear her name forever linked to a view not of her own, but no one really caring about the true cause of her murder: poor and negligable medical care. What medical procedure she had is not really the main point, but her medical care (or rather, lack of) is the main point.
Jerome, you said it all.
to B. Prisbrey…. I would definitely report and copy the “ugly” emails you have received to the editors of this site because there are MANY of us that believe abortion is wrong but would NEVER contact or want to cause pain to any one that has done that or any family member that suffered from that. To me, it is not the person but the act that is at issue. I am sorry your anger is directed at a pro life organization, rather than a pro-choice that should hold abortionist to higher standards if they are going to practice. I am one that had an abortion 25 years ago at the age of 19. NO ONE in that clinic that I wemt to when I was scared, confused, very little support EVER gave me any options but abortion. All I was given was fear and scare tactic of why this was the only and best choice for me. As a somewhat new Christian I feel we have an obligation to educate, present the truth of abortion and provide alternative choices for those facing this issue. Such as Crisis Pregnancy Center which is a great organization and support for when facing pregnancy. But my biggest issue with “legal” abortions is there is NO govt organizations holding them accountable or to even minimal standards that are required of EVERY other medical facility in this country. The things that are happening in the name of “legal” abortions is sickening right now in our country. The reality is when there is not a ban and tolerance for all forms of abortion, with no regulations, the things that begin to happen show a moral issue that has SO MANY FACTS OF WHY IT SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED. Have you ever wondered why pro-choice sites do not show the procedure of partial birth abortions??? Is there any wonder??? How can anyone view the diagrams or see real pictures and believe this is humane? The following links are just a FEW examples and facts.

ABORTION IS MURDER……ANY QUESTIONS/
Ive been to other sites and found one in particular that I liked. It was about the clinic workers and their lives. All of these people repented and left the business. They exposed the clinics and how awful they really were to work in.They said that most of the doctors hated women, and especially black women. Most had drinking problems as well as drugs. They spoke of seeing living babies placed into buckets to die.And even little fingers and toes getting caught in suction machines.A lot of the doctors contemplated suicide,as they had children of their own.Its nice to see these people fessing up.One nurse said she was asked to turn on the suction machine and told the doctor”I just can’t do it anymore”and resigned.God bless all of you that came out of darkness.

SO MAKE THE COICE 4 THOSE OTHER LITTLE BABIES INSIDE THEIR MOM’S WOMB WHO CAN’T LET HER KNOW THAT THEY WANNA LIVE!!!!
They were killed because the abortion was not safe. They could have killed themselves if they couldn’t get abortions. They could have been in a case of maternal death.
How interesting for us to see this list of women killed during abortion procedures…. what about of list of the hundreds of women who died during childbirth or killed themselves and/ or children due to postpartem depression? Just wondering.
I’m trying to be receptive to this organization, but we need less propaganda and misleading information. Give us more balance information and facts.
I think you are missing a point, there are no dead women since 1999 I would like to know if there was, so we could support our issue better
Don’t forget to add Laura Hope Smith. Died in Massachusetts on Sept. 13, 2007 by abortionist Rapin Osathanondh
Abortion is a SIN and these women should not be called “victims” because they made the choice to kill their own flesh and blood. I hope others will learn from their mistake and make the choice let their child live even though the government will not stand for what is right. Abortion is a disgusting SIN not a choice!!!
I am the youngest son of SANDRA LYNN CHMIEL, who is on your list. She died on June 3, 1975. It disgusts me every time I read her name in one of these sites. SHE WAS PRO CHOICE UNTIL THE DAY SHE DIED AND SHE WOULD HATE SEEING HER NAME BEING USED TO FURTHER YOUR AGENDA. I am also PRO-CHOICE. It’s a womans right to choose……
What in the procedure of the abortion caused these women to die? Because people die during surgeries from complications out of the hands of the surgeon. Was it a complication like a bad reaction to the anesthesia? Can some one please fill me in on this?
