107 Criminal Charges Filed Against Kansas Planned Parenthood

Operation Rescue says those charges are “just the tip of the iceberg”

Overland Park, KS — One hundred-seven criminal charges were filed in Johnson County, Kansas, on Wednesday against Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri.

According to the Johnson County District Attorney’s web site, the charges include:

  • 23 felony counts of Making a False Information
  • 26 misdemeanor counts of Unlawful Failure to Maintain Record
  • 29 misdemeanor counts of Unlawful Failure to Determine Viability for a Late-Term Abortion
  • 29 misdemeanor counts of Unlawful Late-Term Abortion
  • The felonies carry possible fines of up to $100,000 for each count, and the misdemeanors carry possible fines of up to $2,500 for each count.

“The charges filed Wednesday validate our claims that Planned Parenthood has been operating outside the law,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “We are grateful that there has been a breakthrough in the corrupt political system in Kansas that has for years looked the other way while abortionists blatantly disregarded the law at the cost of innocent lives. Now, finally, some measure of justice is being served.”

“The charges also show the extent to which Attorney General Paul Morrison is willing to go to cover up for his abortion industry cronies that helped elect him. He had access to the same records and failed to file a single charge,” said Newman. “That says volumes about the lack of integrity in Morrison’s office.”

Operation Rescue is part of a coalition of pro-life groups using the citizen petition process to call for a grand jury investigation of Planned Parenthood. An announcement concerning the petition effort is expected soon.

“We have no doubt that if further investigations by a grand jury go forward that we will see even more criminal indictments handed down. The 107 counts are just the tip of the iceberg. Planned Parenthood has for years thumbed their noses at the laws of the State of Kansas,” said Newman. “Now, it is time to pay the piper in a court of law.”

It’s really a shame the complaint doesn’t tell you much beyond the dates on which the infractions are believed to have taken place.

What wonderful news! However, I find it strange that “Making a False Information ” is a felony while an “Unlawful Late-Term Abortion” is only a misdemeanor.

i’m sure my personal views on legality of abortion would offend many supporters of this website. (i’ll keep those to myself for now) however, there are some strong areas in common with you all. personally, if the reason the u.s. insists on having legal abortions is to prevent the injury to women afforded by dirty backroom, illegal abortions. . .then, really, how can poorly regulated, irresponsible, legal abortions be considered an improvement? abortion is a serious thing, regulate the heck out of it. . . that’s from a moderate that supports ONLY first trimester abortions (before “quickening” of the child). and the idea of children having abortions is NUTS. i’m completely outraged at my state’s arrogant defense of jerks like tiller. tiller must be connected to big money politics. human decency demands an investigation regardless of one’s stance on roe v.
