Massive radio, phone call campaign focuses attention on the Kansas Supreme Court and other Tiller political cronies involved in delaying grand jury subpoenas

Wichita, KS – Operation Rescue has launched a massive radio and phone campaign designed to focus public attention on the Kansas Supreme Court with the intent of keeping them honest as they consider motions filed by late-term abortionist George R. Tiller that are meant to deny a citizen-called grand jury critical evidence.
The grand jury subpoenaed 2,000 late-term abortion records from Tiller in January, but Judge Paul Buchanan reduced the number to 250 comprised of 50 records chosen randomly from each of the last five years. Tiller is refusing to produce the evidence.
“This campaign is all about keeping the system honest. If the Court understands that the public is focused on this case, there is more likelihood that they will rule circumspectly and according to the law,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “If they think no one is watching or that no one cares, the chances are that they will continue to cover for Tiller. The public’s patience has worn thin with the endless legal delays that have characterized Supreme Court rulings. It’s high time to break the log jam and let the grand jury do its job.”
Tiller and a New York abortion group, the Center for Reproductive Rights, have asked the Court to deny the grand jury access to possibly incriminating evidence in subpoenaed abortion records. Attorney General Stephen Six has filed a similar motion to block the grand jury from accessing abortion evidence in his possession. Oral arguments are scheduled to be heard before the Kansas Supreme Court on April 8, 2008.
“We are airing radio ads on both secular and Christian radio stations, and are making hundreds of thousands of phone calls to Kansas households to make sure this topic stays in the public’s eye,” said Newman. “Evidence exists that Tiller has been committing illegal late-term abortions for years even though laws have been enacted to specifically protect viable babies after 22 weeks gestation. We cannot afford to be silent and allow justice to be subverted. This campaign could literally save lives.”
