Planned Parenthood Requested “Early Shutdown” to Ambulance Responding for 15-year Old Suffering Patient

Asked for the ambulance to shut off lights and sirens as they approached the Kalamazoo abortion business despite a “Priority One” medical emergency.

By Cheryl Sullenger

Kalamazoo, MI – A clip of a 911 call and other records recently received by Operation Rescue show that a 15-year old girl was transported from a Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to a local hospital.

The recording and CAD printout show the teenager was having difficulty breathing, a critical emergency the Planned Parenthood abortion facility was not equipped to handle.

The ambulance was dispatched “Priority 1,” indicating a serious, life-threatening condition. A Planned Parenthood worker instructed the ambulance to pick up the patient from the rear delivery entrance and also requested an “early shutdown,” presumably of lights and sirens as the ambulance arrived. Shutting down lights and sirens could cause the ambulance to be delayed by traffic.

The incident took place on September 10, 2015. No further information is available on the 15-year old’s condition.

Abortionists who have been known to work at the Kalamazoo Planned Parenthood include:

Mandy Gittler, who was responsible for the abortion-related death of Tonya Reaves in 2012. Planned Parenthood paid out a settlement of $1.5 million to Reaves surviving son.
Virgil C. Reid, III, who also serves as medical director for Planned Parenthood Illinois, and worked at the same Planned Parenthood abortion center where Reaves was fatally injured.
Laura D. Castleman, who has written extensively on manual vacuum aspiration techniques for abortion procedures and provides abortion training for the National Abortion Federation.

“Once again an ill-equipped Planned Parenthood abortion business has sent a suffering patient to the hospital for emergency care it could not provide,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “The young lady is lucky to be alive, no thanks to Planned Parenthood or its dangerous staff of abortionists. There is no such thing as a ‘safe’ abortion business and our research into abortion abuses proves it.”

Operation Rescue, which works to document cases of medical emergencies and other abuses at abortion facilities, has recorded nearly 100 cases of patient-related medical emergencies at abortion centers across the United States in the past 18 months alone. Those incidents represent only a small fraction of women who are actually hurt by abortion each year.

Carhart’s Personal War on Women: 911 Call Reveals Serious Abortion Injury; Days Later Another Ambulance Rolls to NE Facility

By Cheryl Sullenger

Bellevue, Nebraska – With lights flashing and sirens blaring, an ambulance and fire unit arrived at LeRoy Carhart’s Bellevue, Nebraska, abortion facility on February 4, 2016. This incident represented the third time in less than three months that an ambulance was called to an abortion facility where LeRoy Carhart was on duty supplying abortions.

Not much else is yet known about the condition of that woman, however, Operation Rescue has obtained the 911 recording for a previous medical emergency on January 19, 2016, that took place at Germantown Reproductive Health Services, the late-term abortion facility were Carhart aborts babies throughout all nine months of pregnancy.

On the recording, a cheery clinic worker is heard asking for transport for a patient for observation, downplaying the seriousness of the injuries, which become apparent later in the call.

While heavily redacted, it is clear from the questioning of the dispatcher that the victim was likely a late-term abortion patient who was hemorrhaging, and may have been bleeding from the mouth. If that was the case, it means she likely suffered serious internal injuries as the result of the abortion.

The following portion of the recording is especially revealing.

911: Is she bleeding or vomiting blood?
[Answer redacted.]

911: …ok, and so where is she bleeding from?
[Answer redacted.]

911: …ok, and has the afterbirth been delivered yet? The bleeding’s serious.
[Answer redacted.]

The video shows that as the woman was transported from GRHS, Carhart and his wife, Mary Lou, are seen leaving the facility with their luggage and exit the parking lot in the opposite direction as the ambulance.

Carhart has no hospital privileges anywhere, and hasn’t since 1982.

“It’s possible that the Carhart’s had a flight to catch so they just dumped their seriously bleeding patient on the emergency room,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “This means he would probably not been available in the event emergency room personnel had questions about the injured patient’s care.”

Carhart similarly caught a plane and was unavailable when another late-term patient, Jennifer Morbelli, suffered complications to a 33-week abortion and later died at a hospital where her desperate family took her for care.

The January 19 injury in Maryland and the February 4 emergency in Nebraska combine for a total of eleven medical emergencies documented by Operation Rescue since 2012.

“It is clear that Carhart poses a danger to the public and it is past time for the authorities in Maryland and Nebraska to stop turning a blind eye to this carnage,” said Newman. “Once again, we will be filing complaints with medical boards in both states, and will continue to do so when these incidents happen until they finally understand just how dangerous he really is.”

Planned Parenthood Worker Featured in Shock Video Calls 911 for Bleeding Abortion Patient

By Cheryl Sullenger

Houston, TX – Even as Planned Parenthood’s CEO Cecile Richards, was testifying before the House Oversight Committee on her organization’s funding and participation in the sale of aborted baby tissue, Operation Rescue received 911 records related to a medical emergency the Houston Planned Parenthood facility that was featured in the videos released by the Center for Medical Policy.

According to the Houston Coalition for Life, which posted a photograph of the incident on its Facebook page, this was the tenth ambulance to be seen at the high volume Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Houston since the beginning of the year.

The abortion-related medical emergency took place on August 4, 2015. In an audio recording of the 911 call obtained by Operation Rescue through a Freedom of Information Act request, the Planned Parenthood caller identified herself as “Tram.”

This is Tram Nguyen, who is the Director of the Ambulatory Surgery Center, Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, in Houston, Texas. Nguyen is featured in the Center for Medical Progress video released on August 4, 2015 – ironically the same day as the botched abortion – titled “Intact Fetuses ‘Just a Matter of Line Items’ for Planned Parenthood TX Mega-Center.”

During the emergency call placed by Nguyen, she explained to the 911 dispatcher the condition of the patient.

“We have a patient who just had a medical procedure and she’s experiencing bleeding and needs to be transported to Ben Taub per our physician orders,” she said. “She has I.V. access so we need an ACLS-equipped ambulance, please.”

In the CMP video, Nguyen is shown in the abortion clinic’s P.O.C. room (Products of Conception) discussing intact fetal “specimens.”

“It varies based on gestation, sometimes they come out really intact,” she told CMP actors posing as representatives of an organ procurement company. She continued to help the actors identify parts of a large aborted baby that was one of a set of twins that were 20 weeks (five months) gestation.

Nguyen also commented on the ease of harvesting the eyeballs from aborted babies.

“So all of it, yeah. Orbits [eyeballs] are so easy, like, 95% of the time,” she said.

“We have heard over and over from Planned Parenthood about the supposed ‘high quality health care they provide, yet the fact that one woman after another has been transported to the hospital suffering from hemorrhaging or some other life threatening complication is evidence that soundly refutes Planned Parenthood’s claim,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue and Board Member for the Center for Medical Progress. “Abortion is certainly not health care, and the frequency with which this facility sends women to the ER makes it a ‘bottom of the barrel’ abortion mill.”

Operation Rescue supports the defunding of Planned Parenthood and the Congressional investigations into Planned Parenthood’s trafficking in aborted baby body parts.

“It just isn’t about the babies who are dying, although that should be a compelling enough argument for defunding, but it is also about the women who suffer from shoddy procedures and end up in an ER or in the morgue. Some can never bear children again,” Newman explained. “Women will be better off if Congress took the half-billion dollars annually that currently goes to Planned Parenthood ad relocated it to community clinics that offer legitimate health care services and do not profit from abortion or the sale of their dead babies’ remains after the fact.”

Operation Rescue encourages pro-life supporters to join a nationwide protest of Planned Parenthood on October 10. To find a protest in your area or for more information visit

911 Recordings Reveal New Details of Two More Abortion Complications at Preterm Where Lakisha Wilson Died

By Cheryl Sullenger

Cleveland, OH — Operation Rescue has received two 911 audio recordings related to two separate abortion-related medical emergencies that took place at Preterm Clinic in Cleveland on March 20 and April 24, 2015.

During both incidents, abortionist Lisa Perriera was on duty according to eyewitnesses who tell Operation Rescue she was seen at Preterm at the time of the emergencies.

Perriera is known for having conducted the second-trimester dismemberment abortion that led to the death of 22-year old Lakisha Wilson last year.

The March 20, 2015, recording indicated that a medical assistant employed by Preterm placed a call to 911 at 2:57 p.m. and asked for the transport of a 15-year old patient that was suffering issues with her heart following an abortion.

The teen was said to be tachycardic and suffering from atrial fibrillation, which means in layman’s terms that she had an abnormally accelerated and irregular heartbeat. The patient had no reported previous history of heart disease.

The Preterm caller told the 911 dispatcher that the patient’s last pulse rate was 123 beats per minute. The average 15-year old female should have a resting heartbeat between 70 – 100 beats per minute.

The Preterm caller told 911 that the patient was ambulatory and would be waiting for them on the first floor, even though abortions are only done on the third floor, which is accessible to a gurney via an elevator. The elevator repair truck was later spotted at the abortion facility. This has led to concerns that the patient, who was immediately post-abortive and required emergency care, may have been forced to walk down two flights of stairs to get help because a gurney had no access to the procedure rooms on the third floor.

During the April 24, 2015, medical emergency, a Preterm employee requested that a 35-year old patient be transferred and monitored for heavy vaginal bleeding following an abortion, and indicated that the patient had been given Methergine, a drug used to control post-abortion hemorrhage.

The patient had the abortion procedure at 12:30 p.m., but 911 was not called until 2:09 p.m.

Pro-life activists on the scene during this emergency noted that the patient emerged from the clinic on a gurney, “wrapped like a mummy” in pink and purple blankets.

The caller told 911 that the patient had a history of Graves Disease, which is an auto-immune disease that affects the thyroid, but this condition likely had nothing to do with the patient’s hemorrhaging.

The patient was said to be available to emergency responders on the third floor of the abortion facility. This was troubling due to the fact that the frequently malfunctioning elevator has delayed emergency medical care to abortion patients on at least two occasions, and is too small to fit a gurney in a fully reclined position.

The malfunctioning elevator contributed to a delay in emergency responders reaching Lakisha Wilson on March 21, 2014, as she laid on the abortion table not breathing at all. The delay could have contributed to Wilson’s death.

In an earlier incident on March 31, 2012, emergency care was also delayed after additional assistance was requested to carry a 300-pound patient down two flights of stairs to an awaiting ambulance. That woman suffered from hemorrhaging after an abortion.

All of Preterm’s five surgical abortion rooms are located on the building’s third floor. (See Floor Plan) Because of this, the undependable elevator poses a potentially fatal health hazard to every woman who undergoes surgical abortion at Preterm.

Local pro-life activists tell Operation Rescue that the Schindler Elevator repair truck is frequently seen at Preterm — sometimes as often as twice a week — indicating that the frequent elevator malfunctions have not been resolved.

“It is irresponsible for the Ohio Department of Health to allow Preterm to continue operating under the current dangerous conditions, of which they are well aware. It is obvious that Preterm’s building is not suitable for surgical abortions and should be shut down immediately,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “In addition, the Ohio Medical Board must take a closer look at why, out of all the abortionists that are known to work at Preterm, that Perriera’s name is the one that keeps coming up when an abortion is botched.”

Preterm is currently used as a training facility for the San Francisco-based Ryan Residency Abortion Training Program. Medical residents from Case University Medical Center are trained by Perriera and others to do abortions.

In the wake of Lakisha Wilson’s death, Perriera was said to have been promoted to a position as the Ryan Residency Training Program Director at Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but apparently has yet to begin her employment there.

“It’s not very comforting to think that new abortionists are being trained by someone that cannot keep her patients out of the hospital or out of the morgue,” said Newman.

Ironically, Perriera is to be honored by the Physicians for Reproductive Choice with the George Tiller, MD, Abortion Provider Award for 2015, which “recognizes a physician early in their career who provides abortions while demonstrating leadership and courage, even in the face of adversity.” She is set to receive the award at a ceremony to be held on New York City on June 1.

That “adversity” referred to by the Physicians for Reproductive Choice included repeated calls for disciplinary action and even criminal charges related to Wilson’s avoidable death by local and national pro-life groups, including Operation Rescue.

No mention of the adversity suffered by an ever-increasing number of her abortion patients.

Operation Rescue has published an exposé on horrific abortion abuses that currently exist at Ohio abortion clinics, including Preterm, based on recently-obtained secret Ohio Department of Health records. Read Operation’s Special Investigative Report.

Protest Thursday: Four 911 Recordings Describe Abortion-Related Complications at Texas Planned Parenthood

Activists will protest at the Austin Planned Parenthood on Thursday to call attention to Planned Parenthood’s targeting of African-American women and other minorities, who suffer the most from abortion abuses.

By Cheryl Sullenger

Houston, Texas – As is launching a protest at Planned Parenthood in Austin, Texas, Operation Rescue has released four 911 records related to medical emergencies at Planned Parenthood’s abortion facility in Houston.

The 911 calls were placed on January 31, February 6, February 25, and February 26, 2015.

According to the web site, “Infowarriors and pro-life activists are encouraged to come and peacefully protest Planned Parenthood’s admitted targeting of the black community and all innocent children, as outlined by founder Margaret Sanger.”

Protest Details:
Time: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. CST
Date: Thursday, May 21
Location: 201 E Ben White Blvd, Austin, TX 78704

The Houston Planned Parenthood, where the recent medical emergencies took place, is located an area that targets poor urban women of color.

“There is an old adage that says actions speak louder than words. After hospitalizing four women in less than 30 days, Planned Parenthood can no longer pretend to care about women,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “Planned Parenthood clinics are not equipped to cope with even the most common abortion complications and must call for emergency assistance and transport when abortions go wrong. And they appear to go wrong all too often at the Houston Planned Parenthood, where unfortunately Black and Hispanic women are bearing the brunt of the abuse.”

According to the 911 records, Planned Parenthood’s Director of Nursing, Margo Trentwood, placed a call to 911 on January 31 at 12:43 p.m. requesting a medical transport for a 19-year old patient who was experiencing vaginal bleeding and other unspecified complications after a “medical procedure.” An ambulance transported the woman to a nearby hospital.

Listen to the 911 call from January 31, 2015:

As previously reported by Operation Rescue, on February 6, 2015, at 2:20 p.m. a Planned Parenthood employee who identified herself as Cecelia, requested an emergency transport for a patient suffering a possible uterine perforation. She described the woman as “awake and alert.”

A perforation is when the cannula, a plastic tube used to suction out the aborted baby body parts, or some other instrument is pushed through the soft wall of the uterus into the abdominal cavity. This can cause hemorrhaging and infection if not promptly treated, and can sometimes cause damage to the bladder, colon, intestines, or other internal organs and structures.

An unusual call to 911 was placed on February 25, 2015 at 10:29 a.m. The Planned Parenthood caller hung up, then when 911 called back, the dispatcher was placed on hold. Finally, an employee that identified herself as Nora Harper, told the dispatcher that she had a patient suffering from vaginal bleeding who required emergency transport to the hospital.

Listen to the 911 call from February 25, 2015:

The following day, on February 26, 2015, another call was placed to 911 at 4:26 p.m. A Planned Parenthood employee identified as Nadia called for an emergency transport of a patient suffering a possible ruptured ectopic pregnancy.

A ruptured ectopic pregnancy can occur when an abortionist fails to confirm that the pregnancy is in the uterus and gives either a surgical or medication abortion. In those cases, the pregnancy continues to grow in the fallopian tube, which cannot expand enough to support a pregnancy. Once the baby gets too big, the fallopian tube painfully ruptures, creating a life-threatening medical emergency.

Listen to the 911 call from February 26, 2015:

For example, on August 20, 2010, another Planned Parenthood abortionist Aqua Don Umoren, conducted a suction abortion on Roberta Clark at a Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Birmingham, Alabama. Umoren insisted the pregnancy was in the uterus, however, the patient was actually experiencing an ectopic pregnancy. She received the abortion and was set home thinking everything was fine, but continued to suffer nausea and lower-quadrant abdominal pain. He later reported to an emergency room and was forced to undergo emergency surgery to remove a 13-week pregnancy and her right fallopian tube. She sued Umoren and Planned Parenthood for malpractice.

It is not known if the Houston Planned Parenthood patient experienced a similar situation during the February 26 emergency, but the possibility does exists.

Abortionists at the Houston Planned Parenthood include Ann Irene Schutt-Aine, Paul Martin Fine, and Soren John Vindekilde.

Planned Parenthood in Houston has a long history of injuring women, including the following examples.

On August 23, 2012, 911 records show that a patient hemorrhaged after abortion at Planned Parenthood in Houston.

During a 911 call placed on December, 14, 2013, from the towering Houston Planned Parenthood abortion clinic, the caller is heard using medical abbreviations and “shorthand” terminology to conceal the fact that an abortion 33-year old patient was suffering uncontrolled bleeding and heavy blood loss.

But the tactic backfired and served only to confuse the dispatcher and delay emergency care to the hemorrhaging abortion patient, who was eventually transported to Ben Taub Hospital in Houston.

Listen to the full 911 recording from December 14, 2013:

In fact, Operation Rescue determined from data found in court records that as many as 1,000 women are hospitalized in Texas each year due to abortion complications.

While all these incidents took place at the Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Houston, Operation Rescue has documented dozens of similar emergencies at Planned Parenthood clinics across America.

In 2015 alone, Operation Rescue has documented 14 abortion-related medical emergencies at Planned Parenthood facilities in eight states, including California, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, New York, Ohio, and Washington.

“Planned Parenthood poses a particular danger to poor women of color, who they aggressively target for abortions. If ‘Black Lives Matter’ to Planned Parenthood, they would stop marketing abortions to Blacks and other minority women,” said Newman.
