Washington, DC – In the wake of the forced closure of his Delaware abortion facility due to failure to pay rent, the notorious abortionist Steven Chase Brigham has quietly opened a new abortion facility in Washington, D.C.
Ever attempting to conceal his ownership and the true nature of his shady abortion business, Brigham is calling his new facility Capital Women’s Services, located at 6323 Georgia Ave NW, Suite 210, Washington, D.C. It is not listed on Brigham’s flagship American Women’s Services website, but a call to a 202-area code number listed for Capital Women’s Services is redirected to the American Women’s Services central appointment line.
A D.C. Business License Verification search yielded no results for Capital Women’s Services, Steven Brigham, or any of his many known business entities.
The abortion business offers medication abortions up to nine weeks and surgical abortion up to 24 weeks.
A description of medication abortions offered appears to imply use of the Abortion Pill cocktail of Mifeprex and Misoprostol. However, a confidential source has informed Operation Rescue that Brigham facilities mislead women into thinking they will get abortion pills, but actually receive cheaper, more dangerous Methotrexate injections, which, according to the source, have a worrisomely high rate of incomplete abortions.
Brigham has a decades-long history of flouting the law and engaging in deceptive practices. He has lost medical licenses in six states, most recently in New Jersey, which revoked his medical license for operating an illegal bi-state abortion facility and practicing without a medical license at an illegal late-term abortion facility in Elkton, Maryland.
In Delaware, Brigham obtained a lease on a Wilmington office space only by concealing his true business of abortion from the property owner, a deceptive practice Brigham may have used to obtain his new Washington, D.C. location.
Brigham has a habit of employing incompetent misfits of dubious character to conduct abortions at his facilities, and Capital Women’s Services is no different. The abortionist there is Myron Rose, an elderly abortionist who splits his time between the D.C. office and Brigham’s Maryland medication abortion centers in Baltimore and Cheverly, conducting both surgical and medication abortions.
Rose was disciplined last year after the Maryland Board of Physicians determined he lied on his renewal application about having completed the requisite number of hours of continuing education. He was fined $2,600.
“Brigham-run abortion facilities represent the bottom of a very rotten barrel. We warn women to avoid his facilities at all costs and never believe a word that is told to them by schedulers,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “I am aware that there are workers who are trying to help women within his organization, and I urge them to quit their jobs that only enable Brigham’s abortion abuses. For Brigham, the abortion business is all about money. Women’s lives and safety take a back seat to his bank account every time.”
Operation Rescue continues to actively work to halt Brigham’s abortion abuses and shut down his exploitive abortion facilities through the complaint process.
