Abortionist with Mental Health History Sends 5th Patient to Hospital this Year

By Cheryl Sullenger

Bakersfield, CA – Despondent over a divorce, Donald Clyde Willis, walked over to a park near his Oregon home on the night of September 20, 1993, put a revolver to his head and pulled the trigger. The next morning, a passerby found him and called 911.

Willis claimed in a 1996 medical board case that he never lost consciousness after he attempted suicide. He underwent surgery to remove bone and part of his brain. Once he recovered enough, he was admitted to a mental ward where he was treated for three months.

In danger of losing his medical license, Willis made a voluntary agreement with the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners to numerous restrictions on his ability to practice medicine.

It was then that Donald Clyde Willis decided to become an abortionist.

He soon moved to California where the medical board in that state ruled that since the Oregon restrictions were voluntary, Willis should be allowed to practice in California without restriction.

Today, Willis works as an abortionist at FPA Women’s Health, a high-volume abortion facility in Bakersfield, California. He avoids the pro-life activists who stand vigil outside the abortion facility, often parking several blocks away and slipping in the clinic’s back entrance to avoid detection.

On August 19, 2017, he sent his fifth known Bakersfield abortion patient to a hospital emergency room this year.

Video taken by long-time pro-life activists Tim and Terri Palmquist showed a woman on a gurney who was loaded into an ambulance and transported to Kern Medical, a nearby hospital. At the hospital, ambulance personnel offloaded her and wheeled her directly into the emergency room entrance.

Willis was later seen walking down an alley toward the hospital carrying a briefcase. The deep scar in the middle of his forehead is still a visible reminder of a trouble history of mental illness that resulted in a failed suicide attempt and a sudden attraction for the business of abortion that brought about a dramatic career shift.

But Willis does not seem to be particularly good at his chosen profession. Other women were similarly transferred to hospitals suffering from medical emergencies.

January 10, 2017: A woman was extracted from the abortion business completely wrapped in sheets without any visible signs of ongoing treatment. It is unknown if she was still alive.
February 4, 2017: (First Incident) A patient was wheeled out of the abortion business and transported with no lights or sirens to Kern Medical Center.
February 4, 2017: (Second Incident) A woman was transported by ambulance to San Joaquin Hospital’s emergency room. She was covered in a sheet, but was obviously receiving ongoing medical care.
February 18, 2017: A female patient was transported from FPA Women’s Health to a nearby hospital. The disturbing pattern of botched abortions caused Operation Rescue to issue an Urgent Public Safety Advisory to women seeking abortions in the area of Bakersfield, California.

“The five medical emergencies so far this year are proof that Willis poses a danger to the public,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “We urge the California Medical Board to take immediate steps to protect the women from suffering further injury by this troubled man.”

Ambulance Transports 64th Patient in Throes of Medical Emergency from St. Louis Planned Parenthood

By Cheryl Sullenger

St. Louis, MO – The most dangerous abortion facility in America has transported its 64th known patient by ambulance to a local hospital on March 11, 2017.

The high-volume Planned Parenthood in St. Louis, the only abortion facility in Missouri, has a dismal abortion safety record. Fire Department Records and eye-witness accounts show that it uses emergency ambulance transports for patients on average of once every six weeks dating back as far as 2009.

One witness to the most recent March 11 incident told Operation Rescue that lights and sirens announced the ambulance’s arrival at Planned Parenthood around noon. Ten minutes later-paramedics emerged from the abortion facility with a woman on a gurney that was completely “cloaked” while clinic workers deployed tan tarps to prevent pro-life activists from documenting the incident. It left without running lights and sirens.

But as troubling as the flood of patient injuries have been, a lack of basic sanitation also poses a serious health issue at the St. Louis Planned Parenthood facility. In January, Operation Rescue reported on five Statement of Deficiency Reports that showed Missouri state inspectors have cited the Planned Parenthood abortion facility in St. Louis for 39 classes of violations involving 210 incidents – 53% (111) of which were related to failure to provide a safe and sanitary environment. [Read the full report.]

Those Deficiency Reports indicated that from 2013 through 2016, the violations at the St. Louis Planned Parenthood abortion facility have become more numerous and serious, including failure to properly clean the facility or properly sterilize surgical instruments used on patients.

“We are seeing increasingly deteriorating facility conditions, infection control practices, and patient safety issues. I can imagine no other business that would be allowed to endanger the lives and health of its customers to the extent that this Planned Parenthood abortion mill has,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue.

Despite its inability to keep its abortion patients out of the emergency room, Planned Parenthood has sued Missouri with the intent of disposing of important abortion safety laws so it can expand its shoddy services into other Missouri communities.

“Planned Parenthood’s arrogance and attitude that they are above the law in Missouri is contributing to the gross patient dangers in St. Louis,” said Newman. “They act as though abortion laws and patient care standards are for others to follow while the Department of Health looks the other way. This allows Planned Parenthood to continually cut corners on safety and sanitation without fear of any meaningful consequences. People that really care about women don’t callously disrespect, exploit, and endanger them like this.”

Nationwide, safety at Planned Parenthood abortion facilities is no better. Yet, Planned Parenthood continues to receive over $500 million in taxpayer funds each year. America must stop subsidizing Planned Parenthood’s shoddy businesses.

Please contact your Congressman and Senators and demand that they immediately defund Planned Parenthood.

Sample note to your elected representatives:

“Planned Parenthood facilities across America engage in shoddy medical practices as evidenced by a long list of documented medical emergencies there. [Watch video at https://youtu.be/r19sW5VBA-U ]. Since Planned Parenthood can’t keep their patients out of the emergency room, they don’t deserve to be rewarded with our tax money. Please defund Planned Parenthood now.”

Margaret Sanger Planned Parenthood Sends 3rd Patient this Year to the Emergency Room

By Cheryl Sullenger

New York City, NY – For the third time in the opening weeks of 2017, a patient has been transported via ambulance to a nearby emergency room from Planned Parenthood’s flagship New York abortion facility, the Margaret Sanger Center.

Photos provided to Operation Rescue by a pro-life activist who witnessed the incident on Friday, March 3, 2017, show paramedics entering the Planned Parenthood building with a hand-held portable stretcher, instead of a standard rolling gurney. They emerged five minutes later with a woman slumped in a wheelchair apparently provided by Planned Parenthood.

The pro-life witness, who wishes to remain unidentified, gave the following written account of what she saw:

An ambulance arrived at Margaret Sanger Planned Parenthood (26 Bleecker Street, NYC) today, March 3, at 11:54 a.m. The medics went in with a chair, but they came back with a woman in a Planned Parenthood wheelchair at 11:59 a.m. She was bent over nearly double as she got into the ambulance. The ambulance drove off nearly 20 minutes later at 12:18 p.m.

This account raises several questions concerning patient safety at the Planned Parenthood abortion facility.

Gurney Access?

First is the question of gurney access. This is the second documented incident where a patient of Planned Parenthood was brought to the ambulance in a wheelchair. A lack of gurney access delays emergency care for patients.

For example, in 2009 at Kermit Gosnell’s Women’s Medical Society abortion facility in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, paramedics had difficulty extracting Karnamaya Monger from the building due to the narrow halls and doorways. This delayed Mongar’s arrival at the hospital and is believed to have contributed to her death.

While other patients have been seen on gurneys at the Planned Parenthood high-rise, it is possible that they were placed on one once the patient had been moved to the street-level lobby.

Time Lapse Prior to Transport

The length of time it took paramedics to stabilize the Margaret Sanger Planned Parenthood patient is also alarming. Once the woman was finally in the ambulance, paramedics took 20 minutes to treat her before rushing her to the hospital for additional care. This makes it likely that her injuries were severe and not treatable inside the Planned Parenthood center.

This is similar to an 2013 Ohio incident in which Lakisha Wilson suffered cardiopulminary arrest after a second trimester abortion. Even though he had not been breathing for some time, paramedics could not lay her flat to intubate her due to a cramped elevator. Once Wilson was finally inside the ambulance, paramedics intubated her prior to transporting her to the hospital where she later died.

Increased Frequency of Emergencies

Another concern is the increased frequency with which medical emergencies are occurring at the Margaret Sanger Center Planned Parenthood. In 2016, there were two documented ambulance transports that took place on March 1, and November 4.

However, in 2017, there have been three such incidents in just eight weeks. In addition to the March 3 event, there were emergency ambulance transports from this same Planned Parenthood facility on January 18 and February 4.

The increased frequency of patient hospitalizations is troubling since it represents a deterioration in patient safety.

“We have to wonder what is happening at the Margaret Sanger Planned Parenthood abortion center that is increasingly endangering the lives of women. But since this is happening in the pro-abortion state of New York, our efforts to find out more have been thwarted at every turn,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “If an abortion facility can’t keep their patients out of the emergency room, they shouldn’t be operating.”

To date nationwide, there have been a total of 21 documented Planned Parenthood patients that have required emergency transport directly from Planned Parenthood abortion centers around the country since January 2016.

“We only can document what pro-life activists report to us, and that is just a fraction of the abortion injuries that are occurring,” said Newman. “But from what we can see, Planned Parenthood is endangering women in increasing numbers. This shows an urgent need to defund, investigate, and prosecute Planned Parenthood.”

Suffering Abortion Patient Transported by Ambulance from Planned Parenthood’s NYC Margaret Sanger Center

By Cheryl Sullenger

New York City, NY – As the 44th memorial of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that decriminalized abortion approached, Planned Parenthood provided us with a cautionary tale — one it hoped would never become public.

While Planned Parenthood prepared to celebrate “safe, legal” abortion, one of their own abortion patients was transported by ambulance from Planned Parenthood’s flagship Margaret Sanger Center abortion facility in New York City. The incident took place on January 18, 2017, at approximately 11:45 a.m.

Just two hours before, a pro-life activist spoke with the patient’s husband, who confirmed that the woman was at the Planned Parenthood facility for an abortion.

The woman was removed from the abortion facility on a gurney and wheeled to the ambulance, passing under a large pink banner that ironically read “Healthcare happens.”

“Healthcare really doesn’t happen at Planned Parenthood abortion facilities. There’s no way anyone can seriously consider dismembering an innocent child in the womb to be ‘healthcare,’” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “In fact, Planned Parenthood is also responsible for injuring and killing women during botched abortions that their often sub-standard abortion centers. That’s not rhetoric. That’s fact and we have volumes of documentation to prove it. Abortion was never safe, and it still isn’t.”

The Planned Parenthood abortion patient was lying on her side in the fetal position on the gurney. One witness who photographed the incident told Operation Rescue that the woman appeared to be in a great deal of pain.

Pro-life activists on the scene were able to get contact information for further assistance into the hands of the husband before his wife was rushed to the hospital.

Operation Rescue confirmed through publicly available radio communications that an ambulance was dispatched to Planned Parenthood’s Bleecker Street address on Margaret Sanger Square at 11:20 a.m. No other information was available on the patient’s condition.

This represents the fifth documented medical emergency at the Margaret Sanger Center Planned Parenthood. On November 4, 2016, an African-American woman was brought out of the Planned Parenthood abortion facility in a wheelchair, placed on a gurney, and transported by ambulance. A similar incidents took place on March 1, 2016; October 14, 2015; and May 4, 2013.

“As the nation marks the 44th memorial of Roe v. Wade with pro-life marches around the country, we can see that the need to defund Planned Parenthood is more urgent than ever,” said Newman. “If Planned Parenthood wants to continue the business of aborting babies and maiming women, it shouldn’t do it with our tax money, which can be better spent on providing real healthcare to women.”

Ambulance Transports Woman with Breathing Difficulties from Unsanitary Abortion Center

By Cheryl Sullenger

Dallas, TX – An ambulance was called to Southwestern Women’s Surgery Center in Dallas, Texas, on January 12, 2017, to aid a woman who was removed from the abortion facility in a wheel chair prior to being loaded into the ambulance.

According to radio communications obtained by Operation Rescue, an ambulance was dispatched to the abortion facility at 12:21 pm. The recording indicated that the woman in need of emergency care was having difficulty breathing.

Southwestern Women’s Surgery Center (SWSC) is considered a high-volume abortion facility, conducting approximately 50 surgical abortions per day. It is owned and operated by aging abortionist Curtis Boyd, who turns 80 in March and is said to still conduct surgical abortions there.

Boyd is perhaps best known as the owner of Southwestern Women’s Options in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the largest late-term abortion facility in the U.S. That facility was recently referred to the New Mexico Attorney General’s office for criminal prosecution related to the illegal sale of aborted baby remains and failing to provide informed consent to women.

SWSC is licensed as an “Ambulatory Surgical Center,” which supposedly requires it to maintain a higher standard than facilities licensed as “Abortion Clinics.”

However, the most recent inspection report available for SWSC, dated November 24, 2015, tells a different story about horrific conditions women have been subjected to there.

Within the 22 pages of violations were found a litany of problems, including untrained staff, unsanitary conditions, failure to maintain the sterility of surgical instruments, and failure to follow up with women who were given abortion drugs, to name a few.

However, perhaps the most shocking finding was related to SWSC’s storage and disposal of contaminated waste and aborted baby remains.

Inspectors found the Biohazard Room packed “floor to ceiling” with bags of soiled linens and biohazard boxes. There was a refrigerator that contained aborted baby remains, but the room was so junky, that the inspector could not access that refrigerator.

On the second day of the inspection, bags of dirty linens were found crammed into nearly every available space, including the patient recovery room. Again, access to the refrigerator storing aborted baby remains was not possible due to the obstructions, which the staff never bothered to remove.

If the storage refrigerator could not be accessed, one can only wonder how the remains from the day’s abortions could possibly be refrigerated, and how it was possible for a disposal firm to collect the refrigerated remains.

Unfortunately, SWSC isn’t unique when it comes to badly failing health and safety inspections. The most recent inspection reports available for each abortion facility in Texas were obtained by Operation Rescue. They showed 16 out of 17 abortion facilities failed their inspections and were cited for a wide range of violations.

In addition to the unsanitary conditions and practices found at SWSC, it also has a history of medical emergencies, including one that took place on February 29, 2016.

“Licensing regulations are only as good as their enforcement, and in Texas, the Department of Health Care Quality has not adequately enforced those laws for the protection of the public from abortion dumps like the Southwestern Women’s Surgery Center,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “That leads to women needing emergency medical care, as we just saw.”

But women seeking abortions at the Dallas facility have ready access to alternatives than can help them avoid the dangers that lurk at SWSC. Across the parking lot from the busy abortion business, Birth Choice, a pregnancy help center that is fully accredited by the Accreditation of Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). It provides FREE help to pregnant ladies six days a week.

“We pray more women will take advantage of the help available at pregnancy help centers like Birth Choice,” said Newman. “It would spare not only the lives of their babies, but also possibly spare the women an unplanned trip to the emergency room or maybe even their own lives.”

Background on Boyd: “Am I killing? Yes, I am. I know that.”
