Second Abortionist Involved in Serious Nebraska Abortion Emergency Identified

By Cheryl Sullenger

Bellevue, Nebraska – It was clear she didn’t want to be photographed. When the most recent abortionist came to work at LeRoy Carhart’s Abortion and Contraception Clinic of Nebraska in Bellevue, Nebraska, she was picked up by another employee and rushed past pro-life activists with a book over her face.

But when an ambulance came for one of their patients on May 4, 2018, she came out on the sidewalk and watched the seriously injured woman was loaded into an ambulance for transport to a nearby hospital.

Now, with the help of local pro-life activists, Operation Rescue has confirmed that Carhart’s mystery abortionist is Major Shana Melody Miles, an Ob/Gyn who also practices at an office located on Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha, Nebraska.

Perhaps not coincidentally, Miles is a 2012 graduate from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, where Carhart also operates AbortionClinics.org, a late-term abortion facility that conducts abortions throughout all nine months of pregnancy.

While it is unknown what part Miles played in the May 4th medical emergency in Bellevue, unconfirmed information received by Operation Rescue indicates it was a very serious abortion-related emergency that left the patient in grave danger. Operation Rescue is attempting to confirm that information.

Miles has not been seen at Carhart’s Bellevue abortion facility since.

“We hope Miles has had a change of heart about participating in the business of abortion. But if she hasn’t, we will continue to pray for her to stop participating in abortions and instead use her medical skills to heal instead of kill,” said Troy Newman.

No Irish Luck: Ambulance Called for Heavily Bleeding Abortion Patient on St. Patrick’s Day

By Cheryl Sullenger

Cleveland, Ohio – To listen to abortion supporters, one might think serious abortion complications are exceedingly rare. They are not. One woman learned that the hard way after she was seriously injured during an abortion on March 17, 2018 – St. Patrick’s Day — the day her luck ran out.

Women often walk into abortion facilities across America thinking the worst will never happen to them, until it does.

“Women who have abortions are playing a dangerous game of chance. You never know when their luck will run out, and when it does, the consequences are life-threatening — and sometimes life-ending as we have seen far too many times,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue.

An ambulance was called to the Preterm abortion facility in Cleveland, Ohio, at 5:22 p.m. for a woman whose injuries during a 13-week abortion were so serious that they caused heavy bleeding could not be stopped. She required emergency transport to a nearby hospital, according to a 911 call obtained by Operation Rescue. While a 911 Computer Aided Dispatch printout was heavily redacted, thankfully, the audio file was not.

According to the 911 recording, the 35-year old patient was “bleeding quite heavily” from her cervix after the completion of her abortion. The Preterm employee noted that she was otherwise awake, oriented, and breathing normally.

This incident came just a week before another ambulance transported a woman from Preterm covered eerily in a black sheet.

Lakisha Wilson was not breathing when she was rushed to the hospital from Preterm on March 21, 2014. She later died from her abortion injuries.

Preterm is certainly no stranger to the ambulance companies, which have responded to calls for help there at least a dozen times since 2010.

In 2014, one ambulance transported Lakisha Wilson, 22, after a 911 call reported that she was not breathing at all. She was pronounced dead later at University Hospital Case Medical Center.

“We have complained about shoddy patient care practices at Preterm for years now, but the Ohio Department of Health and the medical board continue to make excuses for them, even though many women have been seriously injured and one woman has died. Patient safety should be a primary concern for the Department of Health, yet they allow Preterm to continue to endanger women,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “I can guarantee that unless oversight agencies take swift action, more women will suffer harm from incompetent abortions and sloppy patient care at Preterm. It is sadly inevitable – and yet completely avoidable.”

NIH Ambulance Used to Transport Carhart Abortion Patient to Walter Reed Medical Center

#InvestigateCarhart

Bethesda, MD – A photo and new information has surfaced, which reveals a previously unknown medical emergency at a Bethesda late-term abortion facility operated by the notorious LeRoy Carhart.

This is the first recorded incident involving the ambulance transport of a Carhart patient since he opened a new abortion facility in Bethesda in October 2017, just one month prior to this emergency. It is the eleventh Carhart patient transported by ambulance to a hospital since Carhart first began conducting abortions in Maryland in December 2010.

Carhart relocated to Bethesda after the late-term abortion facility where he used to work, Germantown Reproductive Health Services, was bought and closed by the Maryland Coalition for Life. His new facility, AbortionClinics.org, offers abortions throughout all nine months of pregnancy.

The photo, was taken by an anonymous source in the parking lot of the Wildwood Medical Building, where Carhart’s abortion facility is located, on November 20, 2017, at around 4:30 p.m. – long after any pro-life activists would have left for the day.

The witness observed a woman she knew to be a nurse at Carhart’s abortion business escorting the gurney out to the ambulance. The photo shows a dark-haired woman on the gurney in the seated position being treated with an IV solution as she was loaded into an ambulance belonging to – oddly enough – the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

The NIH Division of Fire and Rescue Services (DFRS) provides fire, emergency medical, hazardous materials and specialized rescue services primarily to the NIH research complex, which is comprised of “3,500 research laboratories; a research hospital; animal facilities; computer facilities; high hazard bio-containment laboratories; day care and infant care facilities; dormitory and apartment facilities; single family residential homes and an underground mass transit train station,” according to the NIH’s web site.

The website further notes that the NIH DFRS also “responds to fires and other emergencies at the National Naval Medical Center [Walter Reed] and in Montgomery County, Maryland, in accordance with current mutual aid agreements.”

The patient was taken to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda for treatment, according to local activist Missy Smith, president and founder of WAKEUP.

“We have a private abortion patient of LeRoy Carhart’s who was transported in a federally-funded NIH ambulance and taken to a federally-funded military hospital,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “I have to wonder in federal tax dollars were improperly used.”

The use of an ambulance from the National Institutes of Health for transport to Walter Reed may have been a routine response due to the mutual aid agreement.

Lessening the probability of pure coincidence are links between Carhart’s late-term abortion business, the illegal sale of aborted baby remains, and the NIH.

Carhart was formerly under investigation by the U.S. House Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives, which was looking into the illegal trafficking in aborted baby remains for profit. Carhart was under suspicion of having sold aborted baby remains, and having babies born alive during late-term abortions. He was issued a Congressional subpoena for documents, but never fully complied before the Select Panel’s term ended.

Last May, Operation Rescue published a video along with a report about a bizarre incident where a man with a small biohazard cooler picked up aborted baby remains from Carhart’s Nebraska abortion facility then drove off with them in the back seat of his private subcompact car. This transfer was unlike the usual pick-ups of aborted babies for routine disposal, and was suspected of being a transfer of aborted baby parts to a nearby research facility.

So how does the NIH fit in? Operation Rescue has documented that the NIH has paid for experimentation on aborted baby remains. In one example, a 2015 article published by Operation Rescue revealed documentation that a Massachusetts abortionist, Laurent C. Delli-Bovi, had conducted NIH-funded “research” on the brains of 22 aborted babies – half with Down syndrome. The brains were taken from aborted babies aged 14-22 weeks and were used for experimentation within 2-4 hours after their deaths.

But even if the NIH involvement in the November medical emergency at Carhart’s Bethesda abortion facility was truly coincidental, the dangers of his late-term abortion business cannot be overstated.

With the help of local activists, Operation Rescue was able to document numerous medical emergencies, patient injuries, and even one patient death while he worked in Germantown, and at his abortion business in Bellevue, Nebraska. In Maryland, Jennifer Morbelli died from complications to a 33-week abortion after Carhart had boarded a plane back to his home state of Nebraska and was unavailable to Morbelli or her family as her condition worsened after the abortion. Despite numerous complaints related to dangerous practices and negligent patient care against Carhart, the Maryland Board of Physicians has declined to discipline.

“It looks like Carhart is picking up where he left off in Germantown and continues to pose a threat to women in Bethesda,” said Newman. “But there is some evidence that leads us to believe that he is also still involved in the sale of aborted baby remains. Because the House Select Panel could never really get enough proof to refer him for criminal prosecution, we are asking U.S. Attorney Jeff Sessions to have the Department of Justice investigate him. If he is breaking the law, he should be held accountable and his shady abortion businesses in Maryland and Nebraska should be shut down.”

Abortionist with Mental Health History Sends 5th Patient to Hospital this Year

By Cheryl Sullenger

Bakersfield, CA – Despondent over a divorce, Donald Clyde Willis, walked over to a park near his Oregon home on the night of September 20, 1993, put a revolver to his head and pulled the trigger. The next morning, a passerby found him and called 911.

Willis claimed in a 1996 medical board case that he never lost consciousness after he attempted suicide. He underwent surgery to remove bone and part of his brain. Once he recovered enough, he was admitted to a mental ward where he was treated for three months.

In danger of losing his medical license, Willis made a voluntary agreement with the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners to numerous restrictions on his ability to practice medicine.

It was then that Donald Clyde Willis decided to become an abortionist.

He soon moved to California where the medical board in that state ruled that since the Oregon restrictions were voluntary, Willis should be allowed to practice in California without restriction.

Today, Willis works as an abortionist at FPA Women’s Health, a high-volume abortion facility in Bakersfield, California. He avoids the pro-life activists who stand vigil outside the abortion facility, often parking several blocks away and slipping in the clinic’s back entrance to avoid detection.

On August 19, 2017, he sent his fifth known Bakersfield abortion patient to a hospital emergency room this year.

Video taken by long-time pro-life activists Tim and Terri Palmquist showed a woman on a gurney who was loaded into an ambulance and transported to Kern Medical, a nearby hospital. At the hospital, ambulance personnel offloaded her and wheeled her directly into the emergency room entrance.

Willis was later seen walking down an alley toward the hospital carrying a briefcase. The deep scar in the middle of his forehead is still a visible reminder of a trouble history of mental illness that resulted in a failed suicide attempt and a sudden attraction for the business of abortion that brought about a dramatic career shift.

But Willis does not seem to be particularly good at his chosen profession. Other women were similarly transferred to hospitals suffering from medical emergencies.

January 10, 2017: A woman was extracted from the abortion business completely wrapped in sheets without any visible signs of ongoing treatment. It is unknown if she was still alive.
February 4, 2017: (First Incident) A patient was wheeled out of the abortion business and transported with no lights or sirens to Kern Medical Center.
February 4, 2017: (Second Incident) A woman was transported by ambulance to San Joaquin Hospital’s emergency room. She was covered in a sheet, but was obviously receiving ongoing medical care.
February 18, 2017: A female patient was transported from FPA Women’s Health to a nearby hospital. The disturbing pattern of botched abortions caused Operation Rescue to issue an Urgent Public Safety Advisory to women seeking abortions in the area of Bakersfield, California.

“The five medical emergencies so far this year are proof that Willis poses a danger to the public,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “We urge the California Medical Board to take immediate steps to protect the women from suffering further injury by this troubled man.”

Ambulance Transports 64th Patient in Throes of Medical Emergency from St. Louis Planned Parenthood

By Cheryl Sullenger

St. Louis, MO – The most dangerous abortion facility in America has transported its 64th known patient by ambulance to a local hospital on March 11, 2017.

The high-volume Planned Parenthood in St. Louis, the only abortion facility in Missouri, has a dismal abortion safety record. Fire Department Records and eye-witness accounts show that it uses emergency ambulance transports for patients on average of once every six weeks dating back as far as 2009.

One witness to the most recent March 11 incident told Operation Rescue that lights and sirens announced the ambulance’s arrival at Planned Parenthood around noon. Ten minutes later-paramedics emerged from the abortion facility with a woman on a gurney that was completely “cloaked” while clinic workers deployed tan tarps to prevent pro-life activists from documenting the incident. It left without running lights and sirens.

But as troubling as the flood of patient injuries have been, a lack of basic sanitation also poses a serious health issue at the St. Louis Planned Parenthood facility. In January, Operation Rescue reported on five Statement of Deficiency Reports that showed Missouri state inspectors have cited the Planned Parenthood abortion facility in St. Louis for 39 classes of violations involving 210 incidents – 53% (111) of which were related to failure to provide a safe and sanitary environment. [Read the full report.]

Those Deficiency Reports indicated that from 2013 through 2016, the violations at the St. Louis Planned Parenthood abortion facility have become more numerous and serious, including failure to properly clean the facility or properly sterilize surgical instruments used on patients.

“We are seeing increasingly deteriorating facility conditions, infection control practices, and patient safety issues. I can imagine no other business that would be allowed to endanger the lives and health of its customers to the extent that this Planned Parenthood abortion mill has,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue.

Despite its inability to keep its abortion patients out of the emergency room, Planned Parenthood has sued Missouri with the intent of disposing of important abortion safety laws so it can expand its shoddy services into other Missouri communities.

“Planned Parenthood’s arrogance and attitude that they are above the law in Missouri is contributing to the gross patient dangers in St. Louis,” said Newman. “They act as though abortion laws and patient care standards are for others to follow while the Department of Health looks the other way. This allows Planned Parenthood to continually cut corners on safety and sanitation without fear of any meaningful consequences. People that really care about women don’t callously disrespect, exploit, and endanger them like this.”

Nationwide, safety at Planned Parenthood abortion facilities is no better. Yet, Planned Parenthood continues to receive over $500 million in taxpayer funds each year. America must stop subsidizing Planned Parenthood’s shoddy businesses.

Please contact your Congressman and Senators and demand that they immediately defund Planned Parenthood.

Sample note to your elected representatives:

“Planned Parenthood facilities across America engage in shoddy medical practices as evidenced by a long list of documented medical emergencies there. [Watch video at https://youtu.be/r19sW5VBA-U ]. Since Planned Parenthood can’t keep their patients out of the emergency room, they don’t deserve to be rewarded with our tax money. Please defund Planned Parenthood now.”
