Electrician Quits Repairs On Nebraska Abortion Clinic In Response To Calls

Bellevue, NE – An electrician made the decision yesterday to cancel his contract for work on a fire-damaged abortion clinic after pro-lifers called and explained to the vendor that his work was enabling abortions.

At first, the electrician told callers that he was not working in the abortion clinic, but was working only in the basement. However, once he learned that the basement was part of the abortion clinic where records and supplies were kept, he halted work.

“He said he considered himself a good Catholic and didn’t want to be an accessory to an abortion clinic,” said Larry Donlan of Rescue the Heartland, and Truth Truck driver for Operation Rescue.

The clinic is one that belongs to the infamous partial-birth abortionist LeRoy Carhart. It was damaged by an accidental fire last month, most likely due to Carhart’s own lack of maintenance on the run-down building in Bellevue, Nebraska.

“This just shows the effectiveness of Abortion Collaborator campaign,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman, who first coined the term “abortion collaborator” and pioneered the project. “Once people understand that their work is helping the abortion industry, they often want nothing more to do with it.”

Abortion collaborator campaigns help vendors recognize that providing services for abortion clinics contributes to abortions and makes them culpable for the continued shedding of innocent blood.

“It’s a legal principle as well as a bibilical one. Those who aid and abet share in the guilt,” said Newman.

“We congratulate Rescue the Heartland and appreciate the willingness of this electrician to do the right thing and stop work on the abortion mill. We pray that Carhart’s clinic will never reopen.”

Abortion Collaborators Admonished For Work On Damaged Abortion Mill

Operation Rescue calls on NDB International to halt repairs on Carhart’s clinic in the interest of saving lives.

Bellevue, NE – Workers attempting to repair fire damage to LeRoy Carhart’s Bellevue, Nebraska, abortion mill were soundly admonished by Larry Donlan of Rescue the Heartland on Friday.

Last month, Carhart’s run-down abortion building was heavily damaged by a fire that officials have determined was accidental. Carhart is well known for his slovenly lack of maintenance on the property, where he has run a late-term abortion business for decades. Construction workers have been renovating the basement area where the fire broke out.

Donlan, who drives one of Operation Rescue’s Truth Trucks, told the workers, “Put down your tools and leave this place. By working here you are collaborating in the murder of countless children!”

Donlan recently suffered a foot injury and limped about on crutches speaking with the workers about their complicity in the shedding of innocent blood.

One African-American worker told Donlan that he should not judge, and that God was a loving God. Donlan asked him if killing babies was a loving thing to do and if a “loving God” would approve of his aiding a killer. The worker said he had nothing to do with abortion since it was the woman, not him, that made the decision. Donlan asked him if this were the mid 1800’s, could he help build slave ships and then claim he had nothing to do with slavery.

Donlan continued to convict the workers, saying, “When you go home tonight are you going to tell your wives that dinner is being paid for with the blood of the innocent?”

The apparent job-site foreman threatened to call the police, but Donlan, who has witnessed outside Carhart’s abortion mill for over 15 years, knows the law, and noticed that the construction workers were illegally parked and had equipment illegally placed in the public right of way. He invited the man to go ahead and call the police.

Workers then put up additional yellow hazard tape that surrounded the hobbling Donlan, which amused him, considering his current state of immobility.

To the surprise of the construction workers, when the police arrived, officers told the workers to move their cars and equipment while Donlan continued his witness unimpeded.

“It is unknown when Carhart’s abortion mill will be reopened, but judging from the photos, it will not be any time soon, and maybe never if NBD International stops construction,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “Operation Rescue calls on NDB International to immediately halt repairs on the Carhart clinic in the interest of saving lives.”

LA TIMES: For Kansas Abortion Doctor, Pressure Mounts

    Dear Friends of Life,

The LA Times published a great article today describing the mounting pressure that late-term abortionist George R. Tiller is facing. The photo accompanying the story was taken during our Wichita Awakening event last July.

Setting aside the liberal slant, I think this story is revealing. It shows the hard work that Operation Rescue has put into exposing the nation’s most notorious abortionist is paying off, and that we are seeing the “beginning of the end for Tiller.” The story is posted below for your convenience.

Just today we saw even more signs of hope when no abortions were done on a scheduled abortion day.

Thanks to all who continue to support our ministry in prayer and giving. This wouldn’t be possible without you!

    For God’s glory,

    Troy Newman
    President, Operation Rescue

For Kansas abortion doctor, pressure mounts
George Tiller is to be tried on 19 counts of failing to get an independent second opinion in late-term procedures. And activists aim to force an inquiry by a grand jury.

Dr. George Tiller, who draws patients from across the country to his Wichita clinic, faces trial next month on 19 misdemeanor counts. The charges — which he vigorously disputes — accuse him of aborting viable fetuses without first consulting an independent physician as required by state law.

Each count carries a penalty of up to a year in jail. If convicted, Tiller could also lose his medical license.

His opponents aren’t waiting for the outcome of the trial.

This month, the antiabortion group Kansans for Life submitted nearly 8,000 signatures to Sedgwick County District Court in Wichita, calling for a grand jury to review Tiller’s handling of late-second- and third-trimester abortions. Tiller’s lawyers appealed to federal court to block the grand jury, calling it a “vigilante effort,” but were rebuffed last week. State law allows citizens to force the seating of a grand jury.

At the Capitol, meanwhile, a committee controlled by antiabortion lawmakers held a two-day hearing this month to lay the groundwork for tougher restrictions on abortion. Among the witnesses: a woman who said Tiller rushed her into an abortion at the end of her second trimester without counseling, informed consent or a second opinion because she had arrived late for her appointment at the clinic. State officials said they might investigate those claims.

“This is the beginning of the end for Tiller,” said Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue, a Wichita-based antiabortion group.

Kansas law requires any physician who performs an abortion at or after 22 weeks’ gestation to first determine whether the fetus is viable, meaning it could survive outside the womb. Aborting a viable fetus is permitted only if two doctors certify that continuing the pregnancy could kill the woman or cause her “substantial and irreversible” harm to “a major bodily function.” Tiller has reported aborting more than 2,600 viable fetuses since the law took effect in 1998.
