I have a young daughter with Down syndrome. She is the light of my life. Mothers who abort their baby because they have Down syndrome have absolutely no clue as what a gift they are destroying and how that beautiful child would have melted their hearts. It was never anything I wanted, but oh was I wrong.

This tragic case really affected me. Every aspect of it…the sexual assault, the being brought for a late-term abortion, the misdiagnosis of her sepsis, her death, no consequences for her death, how her parents must feel….all of it. It is so very, very sad.

This is kind of off the topic, and maybe a bit personal but I do know OBGYNS put women on BC (a light state, not one that would even be effective for preventing pregnancy) to regulate periods. I know your a man, so I’ll stop there. (Men tend to think periods are “eww, gross” haha)

Bill- As much as I agree with you, and I HATE admitting this, but i’d much rather have a women on birth control than having a suction abortion. When the child is in the zygote stage, it’s unaware as when if the child was a in the fetus stage. Know what I mean?

The sections covering abortion begin with #2270. Note #2272. There are few sins which result in AUTOMATIC excommunication from the Catholic Church. Abortion is one of those few (subject to the conditions provided by Canon Law) because it is such a grave evil.

You talk about pro-life people as being “anti-choice.” What do you think about the ability for the innocent child to make any choices? Do you not realize that once a baby’s life has been ended, he or SHE will NEVER get to make ANY choice? (Note that millions of baby girls are slaughtered by abortion — preventing them from growing up to become women and shutting them out from all of these so-called “women’s rights” that seem to be so sacred among those favoring legalized abortion.) Choice is certainly about more than the ability to kill an innocent baby in the womb; choice is about deciding what clothes to wear, what food to eat, favorite color, hair style, etc. Who is REALLY “anti-choice”? Is it the one who wants to allow the baby to get the chance to grow up and make CHOICES about their favorite color, favorite food, etc.? Or is it the one who wants to deny that human baby the chance to make ANY of the above-named choices by standing for the legalization of the ability to slaughter that baby?

On the subject of choice, as you are likely aware, the Federal government and many state governments waste tax money on abortions. Taxpayers do NOT get a choice about whether their forced tax money goes into abortions. If the abortion mills are so “pro-choice” then they should refuse even ONE penny from governments at any level. Afterall, the taxpayers have NO say in the matter. But the abortion mills don’t seem to refuse any government handouts.

In the case of Christin Gilbert, as Ashley stated, she had no ability to comprehend an abortion. That means SHE did not get the ability to make the choice. Her family made the choice for her. In many cases, the woman does NOT get to make the ultimate choice on an abortion. A boyfriend/husband pressures her into an abortion. Her parents pressure her into an abortion. Her employer may make her get an abortion. But the abortion mill still gets the cash (either from the customer$ of their evil service or from the taxpayers).

Christin Gilbert’s family made the choice for her. But not only did they lose their grandchild; they lost Christin herself.

As to whether this would have happened at another abortion mill, we don’t know. But what we do know is that abortion is UNnatural. It is contrary to God’s Holy Laws. It an attempt (a very foolish one) to usurp God’s authority as the Author of Life. When we attempt to violate Natural Law, unintended results (for the worse) can happen. Obviously, they did in the case of Christin Gilbert.

Regarding adoption, I often hear this claim from those favoring legalized child slaughter that the baby might end up with a bad family. First, why are you judging potential adoptive parents? You have no idea whether a potential family will be good or bad. But what is your solution? Dismembering the baby limb by limb? Burning the baby in a saline solution? Suctioning the baby out of the womb? Partial birth abortion where scissors are jammed in the baby’s skull? If you are concerned a potentially bad adoptive family, how can you possibly defend a situation where something DEFINITELY evil will happen to the baby?

As to the issue of rape, rape is clearly a horrendous evil. The men who commit these crimes, if convicted, should face LIFE in prison with ZERO chance for parole. Period. To ensure that they have no chance of ever getting out, they should receive multiple life sentences to be served CONSECUTIVELY. However, as a result of this rape, two victims have died: the woman who was raped and the innocent child. Why do those favoring legalized infanticide feel that the child should be executed for a crime committed by his or her father? That’s exactly what abortion for rape is: punishing an innocent person by execution.

On the subject of rape, I’m sure you and I agree that rape is a tremendous evil. I’m sure you and I agree that the rapists should be imprisoned if convicted. When a girl who is underage is pregnant, that means she has been statutorily raped, even if she consented to the immoral act. In these cases, the rapists should still be imprisoned for an illegal act. It seems that the Attorney General in Kansas is trying to investigate such instances of statutory rape and is being thwarted by abortion mills due to “privacy concerns.” Do those favoring legalized abortion want an end to rape or not? If they do, why do they not ask the abortion mills to cooperate in the Attorney General’s investigations? Rape might really decrease if the perpetrators are forced to face a trial and imprisoned if convicted. Other would-be rapists might take note of this action and decide not to commit the heinous crime of rape.

Regarding your definition of pro-life, I’ll tell you this: I’m anti-war (except for what is defined as a just war in the Catechism of the Catholic Church — an example might be World War II), anti-death penalty, anti-birth control, and anti-embryonic stem cell research. Outside of your list, I’m anti-euthanasia, anti-cloning, etc. One cannot call themselves “pro-life” and be in favor of embryonic stem cell research or birth control.

Birth control is saying “no” to God. It is a severe sin. Some forms of birth control can even act as abortifacients. If one does not want to have children, there is a perfect solution: abstinence. Is abstinence easy? Certainly not. It’s even more difficult in today’s world where sexual immorality is promoted (especially to the young) because various industries make lots of money from it. Birth control itself is a big moneymaker for businesses. Abstinence is FREE and 100% pregnancy prevention. Birth control is not free (if an abortion mill provides it for free, the taxpayers are footing the bill), and it does not provide 100% pregnancy prevention. Birth control also does not 100% prevent the spread of STDs.

As to embryonic stem cell research, first, despite the media hype, there have been no cures due to EMBRYONIC stem cell research. Private investors will not invest in this because they won’t invest in something that doesn’t work. Thus, the EMBRYONIC stem cell researchers must depend on a government handout (courtesy the taxpayers) and the media is helping them in their campaign. It is totally wrong to destroy human life for the benefit of others. It is even more deplorable when that research has yet to provide any tangible results (beyond salaries for the researchers).

ADULT stem cell research, on the other hand, is totally acceptable, and has had SEVERAL documented positive results. Adult stem cell research means using the VAST supplies of stem cells within a person’s own body (adult stem cells can be harvested from a person’s body fat — in the United States, most people have at least a little body fat). There is NO rejection issue since the cells come from the same person (with embryonic stem cells, they come from a different person and there will definitely be rejection issues). God has equipped our bodies with stem cells even after birth. We should focus on what He has provided rather than violating God’s Laws. Wonderful results have been achieved. Did you know about the case where a man’s jaw was destroyed? Using his own body’s stem cells, they were able to grow another jaw for him on his back. Then they removed the newly grown jawbone from his back and surgically placed it in its appropriate place. There are plenty of other stories where scientists have cooperated with God and have not destroyed human life. And look what God has provided to them for obeying His Laws.

You think she would have been just fine if she would have been given the proper care? Yeahhh..I think we all agree she would have been okay (Physically). You obviously don’t know why I posted, it was because she didn’t get the proper medical attention she needed. So yeah I agree with you in that respect.

Yes, Adoption is VERY, EXTREAMLY difficult, and I don’t think OR nor I am stating ever, that adoption is the “easy” way out. At least a child wouldn’t have to die though, and for you saying she wouldn’t know if the baby was going to a good home or not? — Hunny, please…. Couples that are looking to adopt pretty much go through hell & high water to get to the point where they can adopt…They get checked out VERY, VERY carefully. I know, because one of my good friend’s mother’s owns an adoption agcy. here in Duluth, MN called “Love Basket” – Birthright & Lake Superior Life Care Center bring women there thinking of adoption because it’s christian based.

Keely, looks like you are pro-choice, angry, and in need of prayer. I’ll put your name on the prayer list at church, please don’t be offended by that – prayer isn’t a bad thing, it never has a negitive effect on anyone. You also cannot blame the family. Perhaps the woman wanted this abortion as well as her family. YOU DON’T KNOW HER.

Also, I believe she would have been fine had she been given proper care during her abortion. Adoption is just as complicated as abortion and there’s no way the poor woman would know whether her baby was going to a loving home or an absolutely horrible one.

Also, I do not see why you cast her and her family’s decision for her to have an abortion in such a bad light. THE POOR GIRL WAS RAPED. She might not have been ready to be a mother; her family might not have been prepared to deal with a new addition to the family. Also, the adoption process is long and very complicated, and there is no way to ensure that your baby will go to a good home.

I understand that your site will be, naturally, biased as it is a “pro-life” or anti-choice site. However, using bad logic to make your beliefs seem superior is not an effective means of dealing with anything… even if you ARE doing so on a site built for people with those beliefs.

Also: do you, the supporters OR the moderators of this site, support birth control? the war? stem cell research? the death penalty?
You cannot call yourselves pro-life just because you are against abortion. I know I’m making assumptions; however, the term pro-life is used far too liberally. If you are against the death penalty and the war, and are for stem cell research and birth control, you can call yourself pro-life. However, if you are not, you don’t get to bear the title. I don’t care how you feel about abortion.

And finally, I understand that this site was built for anti-abortionists, and that you do not want others to have abortions. However, do you support the right for the mother to CHOOSE whether or not she would like to have an abortion? I don’t think i’ll ever have one but I think every woman is entitled to choose. My friend, who is adopted and would not be here had her mother chosen the path of abortion, does not feel that she or others should go down that path but respects a woman’s right to choose whether she wants to go that way.
