Operation Rescue® is one of the leading pro-life Christian activist organizations in the nation and has become the voice of the pro-life activist movement in America. Its activities are on the cutting edge of the abortion issue, taking direct action to restore legal personhood to the pre-born and stop abortion in obedience to biblical mandates.

The great Rev. John Ensor, formerly of A Woman's Concern in Boston, faced a similar situation to what Kristen asks: "There is a starving child and a woman who is pregnant and thinking of aborting both standing in front of you.. Which would you do? You can only pick one, not both. Would you give the starving child food or persuade the woman into not aborting?"

John describes this in his book "Answering the Call." A couple had come in with several children. The husband wanted his wife to abort, due to lack of money for food. Their oldest son was (I think) a teenager already. John suggested to the dad that if providing enough food for his family was the paramount concern, then rather than abort the baby it would be better to kill the oldest child. After this Solomon-like advice, the dad protested and realized the error of his ways, and they kept the unborn child, much to the relief of the mother!

Kristen you DO sound angry to me. You also sound a bit confused. Your comments are in a defensive format. All most of us are saying is that there are other choices other than murder. A lot of people I know would love to adopt a beautiful newborn or how about the fathers of these babies-lets not underestimate them.

Kristin, you write:

"Most pro-lifers scream the word ADOPTION frequently. If there are so many couples so desperate to adopt, then why are there so many kids begging to be adopted?? Is it because they aren’t white and cute? Is it because they are colored with severe starvation or deformities? Pro-Lifers are so quick to persuade a girl out of abortion, but then they disappear when the child is born and starving because they cannot afford food, or pro-lifers are whining because their hard earned tax dollars are going towards welfare. How about the kids in Ethopia? Where is your support for them?"

As to the claim about so many children waiting for adoption, sources please? Those who favor legalized child slaughter often say this but fail to cite any sources. Please provide something that is neutral, not an abortion industry source and not a government source (the government is biased toward the pro-abortion side since abortion is legalized).

As to pro-lifers disappearing when children need food, you are making a blanket statement. You said you didn't appreciate it when others did that to you. Please be consistent. Your statement seems to dismiss the thousands of crisis pregnancy centers. Many do not stop caring and helping once the baby is born. They usually provide free or low cost children's clothes, furniture, classes, medical assistance, etc.

As to taxes, I doubt most pro-lifers would seriously object to helping those who truly want to help themselves. What conservatives typically object to is the all the government bureaucracy in between their tax dollars and the recipients of welfare. There are so many administrative fees and hands that the money must pass through that by the time it reaches the poor, there is practically nothing left. Furthermore, pro-lifers take great exception to tax money going to Planned Parenthood, the largest child killing business in the country. Do you like the fact that PP recently received over $270 MILLION tax dollars last year? Note that many states provide millions in addition. We are forced (against our CHOICE) to pay taxes. Then, the government takes our forced tax contributions and hands them over to a child killing business. We have no choice in the matter. If you are truly "pro-choice," please condemn this. If PP was truly "pro-choice," they'd refuse every last cent of government money.

If you are "pro-choice," what about the baby's choice? Why should the baby simply be executed for the "crime" of being an inconvenience without a lawyer and a trial by jury?

I am very interested in finding the "group of Christians" who were praying outside the abortionist's home. I have recently relocated to the OKC area after spending four years in Nashville. A small group of us consistently met outside the Planned Parenthood death camp most every Friday and shared the gospel with patrons as well as street people walking by. However, out here in OKC, I've not met any strong Christian brothers who would join me in doing exploits for the Kingdom of God over the lunch hour. Please visit my website at http://www.mikesoutherland.com and send me an email message if you are a Christian brother who would like to join with me. (I go to church in Enid, so my brothers there live too far away to join me at lunch.)

I'll admit, many years ago, I didn't really care about abortion, one way or the other. In fact, I bought into the whole "It's my body" thing. I was a side-line "pro-choicer". My Catholic Church has always condemned abortion, but I didn't really care.

Then I had the opportunity to see horrible images of murdered children. Haunting images of violently murdered real people. No longer could I blindly say "they're not really human, yet". I had to ask myself, when are they individual humans, deserving of every protection afforded the born? I could come to no other logical conclusion that they were fully human the moment they were conceived.

Haunting images found on the Truth Truck or web sites such as http://priestsforlife.org/ DO reach the hardest of hearts. It's little wonder that the TT is egged, spat upon and impounded everywhere it goes. I think it's our own guilt wanting to hide what we allow from ourselves.

Kristen, I pray that you will never have to face yourself in the 'recovery' room after your own abortion. I personally know those who suffer the most horrible guilt imaginable many years after their abortions. I'm told that for many, time doesn't heal the pain of killing your own child.

Kristin,

Thank you for clarifying your question. I must admit I'm still a little confused by your question but I will try my best. I really don't see the connection between the two. Aborting the woman will not feed the child, and feeding the child does not mean a woman has to abort.
Why can't the child be fed and the woman carry her pregnancy to term? If your concern is about certain very poor countries, then the best answer is eliminating corrupt governments and promoting economic development to eliminate poverty and hunger, not elimination of the unborn.
I hope I have answered the question to your satisfaction.

Kristin:

"There is a starving child and a woman who is pregnant and thinking of aborting both standing in front of you.. Which would you do? You can only pick one, not both. Would you give the starving child food or persuade the woman into not aborting? "

--Don't try to use ill-fitting analogies. Your "question" is absurd since it's not a question anyone really ever legitimately faces. The bigger question for YOU is, "if you come across a starving pregnant woman, would you help feed her, and her child? Or would you encourage her to abort?" Pro-lifers overwhelmingly would do the latter -- and they do so with their hands, their hearts, their homes, and their dollars, every day, across the land.

Kristin,

Thank you for your kind words. They are very much appreciated.
You raise several issues.
Concerning rape. Legal abortion and the lack of parental consent laws has been shown to enable predators. Please refer back to previous articles. Isn't it tragic that a rape victim can be beaten, mutilated, infected with AIDS, even murdered, and she's just another crime statistic. So long as she isn't impregnated then sexual assault isn't quite so bad. Let her become pregnant and our society goes ballistic. Women would truly benefit if our society was as repulsed by the act of rape and the predator as it is by the rare pregnancy that results. Abortion advocates have vehemently opposed parental consent laws and laws that require reporting of sexual assault prior to an abortion. Keep in mind predators do not confine themselves to one victim and will continue to victimize until they are stopped.
Concerning adoption. There are people desperate to adopt. You also have to check laws of various states and exactly what people know about them. One woman who adopted 3 siblings never knew single women could adopt or she would have adopted sooner.
Physically and mentally challenged children are adopted, though many stay in their own families and take advantage of services that are provided by the state. Many children are trapped in foster care because of legalities concerning parental rights. Over 30 years ago my hometown newspaper ran a weekly feature on hard to place children called "A Child Is Waiting". Each week the response by people willing to adopt was overwhelming.
I already discussed services that pro-lifers have helped establish across the country. Its obvious we don't feel the woman with a crisis pregnancy or an infant should be left to her fate. Keep in mind too Kristin that many of these girls are pregnant because they want to be, or they acted in such a way that pregnancy was inevitable. I have worked with these girls long enough to say this. Illegitimacy is promoted and glamorized by celebrities, TV and movies are saturated with sex. So why are we surprised at teen pregnancies?
Children in Ethiopia? How about Ecuador where I sponsor a child? I also donate to a select few charities as well that assist both the unborn and the born.
I'd be happy to answer your last question but I'm afraid I don't understand exactly what you're asking me.

"These are not pretty pictures; they are not something you would pull out of your wallet or purse and show your friends, you would not say “look what I did to my son or my daughter”, yet this is what abortion is, and this is what it does; this is how pro-choice people “do” their children.

This is what Americans tolerate.

Abortion is as American as apple pie and Chevrolet!"
