Wichita, KS — The nations’ most prominent late-term abortionist, George R. Tiller of Wichita, Kansas, was arraigned today at 10:30 AM on 19 criminal misdemeanor changes of late-term abortions in a surprise move by his attorneys just one day after Operation Rescue announced it would conduct a prayer vigil during his scheduled August 7 arraignment. The change of schedule for today’s arraignment was kept secret from the public and the media.
Tiller did not appear in court. His attorney, Lee Thompson, entered a “not guilty” plea on his behalf. Tiller then surrendered to the county sheriff’s department for processing. He was released on his own recognizance.
“I think they secretly arraigned Tiller in order to avoid him having to face the public in a court appearance,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.
Thompson told the Associated Press that a scheduled hearing on a motion to dismiss the charges is still scheduled for Friday, August 10 at 9:30 AM in Judge Gregory Waller’s courtroom.
“We are moving our prayer vigil to August 10 at 9 AM,” said Newman. “I doubt if Tiller has the courage to show up, but we will pray for a just outcome nevertheless.”
“Everything in this case seems to be done under the cover of secrecy, which does nothing but heighten concerns of corruption and special treatment,” said Newman. “Anyone else would have to stand in court and be held accountable for their crimes.”
According to court records, a bench trial is set for August 17, 2007, at 9:00 AM, but that is very likely to be continued.

Did Mr. Thompson really say “Monday, August 10.” Is that when the prayer vigil is? May I ask what year? In 2007 A.D. (or C.E.), August 10 is on Friday, one week from today, August 3.

If Thompson really did say “Monday, August 10″, then your site should have pointed out that August 10 is on Friday, so that — if that is the correct date of the prayer vigil — then people won’t be confused.

Regarding the prayer vigil date: Just “pray without ceasing, don’t worry about a time or a place. Operation Rescue needs our encouragement, appreciation, and loyalty. Their work is hard. Whatever the outcome, life will not be the same for Tiller, thanks to O.R. devotion to this cause! I am sure Tiller is experiencing some anxiety
related to this situation. His popularity is “dwindling,” and I feel he knows his “days are numbered!” The more bad publicity he gets, the more difficult his days, the less business he has, and more former friendly faces looking the other way. He is not invincible. We have Operation Rescue to THANK for calling attention to this “baby killing criminal.” Remember, faith and cynicism

Operation Rescue, your supporters and pro-lifers in Australia are praying for the right outcome of this trial. Tiller must be punished and God is the ultimate Judge. Even if Tiller is found not guilty of these charges by an earthly court, I do believe that he will face his ultimate trial at Jesus’ hands, who is both merciful and just. KS Gov. Selibelus, KS District Attorney Foulston, KS Attorney General Morrison, KS House Speaker Melvin Neufeld and all the agencies these leaders have jurisdiction over such as the KS Board of Healing Arts, and local and state law enforcement agencies.
Such agencies are obligated to uphold KS law in order to protect the public from harmful operators such as George Tiller. All Kansans should be outraged by the conduct of their political leaders who continue to protect Tiller from the JUSTICE of KS Law !
