Houston, TX – Pro-Life leaders from a number of national groups are holding a press conference to demand that the State take action to immediately close Douglas Karpen’s two Houston abortion clinics amid allegations that he intentionally kills late-term babies that are born alive during abortions.
This call for action comes on the heels of yesterday’s passage of the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (HR 1797) in the U.S. House of Representatives, which was designed to protect unborn babies 20 weeks gestation and older. The legislation was prompted by recent revelations that babies were born alive then intentionally killed by Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell and Houston’s Douglas Karpen. Gosnell was convicted last month on three counts of First Degree Murder and hundreds of other crimes for severing the spines of live late-term babies delivered during abortions.

The allegations against Karpen were made by former employees of his who presented evidence and testimony to Operation Rescue and Life Dynamics, Inc. Photos of two late-term babies aborted by Karpen that were supplied by the former employees were shown as evidence of ongoing abortion crimes and abuses during a recent hearing of the U.S. House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice by Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ).
“We understand that Karpen is currently under investigation, yet his abortion clinics inexplicably remain open. We are calling for a ‘cease fire’ on unborn babies and the emergency closure of Karpen’s two Houston abortion clinics while the investigations are ongoing in order to prevent further loss of life.”
