Operation Rescue calls upon Bush to take aggressive and immediate action against abortion by appointing a pro-life judge to replace O’Connor.
Washington, DC — Upon the announced retirement of Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, Operation Rescue calls upon President George W. Bush to live up to his pro-life commitment to voters in the last election by appointing a justice to the nation’s highest court who will uphold the Right to Life for all pre-born Americans.
During the 2004 Presidential election, polls indicated that it was not the war in Iraq or the economy that put Bush over the top. Instead, it was church-going citizens casting their votes on moral issues that were responsible for putting Bush into the White House for a second term. The number one issue with these voters was abortion and the hope of seeing pro-life judges appointed to the Supreme Court.
O’Connor frequently voted to uphold the so-called “right” to abortion. The appointment of a pro-life justice could tip the sharply divided court back to the conservative, traditional view that the constitution provides protection for all people in spite of age or stage of development, including the pre-born.
“Now it is time to make good on those campaign promises, Mr. President,” said Operation Rescue president Troy Newman. “You have been given a mandate to end abortion in our nation by the American people who cast their votes for you. You have been placed in power for such a time as this. Now it is time to fulfill your obligation to God and to those who elected you, and appoint a staunchly pro-life judge to the Supreme Court. The lives of millions of children yet to be conceived are depending on you for their very lives. ”
Background: Text of Sandra Day O’Connor’s retirement letter to President Bush

Hate to be the barer of bad news, but Mr. Bush is not as big a freind to Pro-life as you may think. At the end of the day, political expediancy will rule the day, and we will get another “moderate” just like Ronald Reagan the conservative patran saint gave us Oconner in the first place.
An even bigger issue, which is not even on the pro-life raidar screen, is the surrender of national sovernty to globalist government thru free trade agreements. In these agrreements, is the establishment of tribunals that make the supreme court look like a sunday school class.
If we continue to allow Mr. Bush the globalist to sell out our national sovernty , there will be no constitution left to put an end to abortion on demand.
If the resent CAFTA treaty goes thru, Chapter 10 of that treaty would give power of the pro-abort UN over our judicial system.
At that point, even if roe v wade were over turned by our court, the world court, and/or CAFTA tribunal could step in and strike that decision down.
Mr. Bushes words do not match his actions. Wake up pro-lifers. Bush ain’t our freind.
The most important thing for every pro-lifer to do, is contack your congressman, and tell them to vote no On the CAFTA treaty. The lives of the pre-born, and the very survival of America as we know it depends on us taking action now.
This is certainly something every thoughtful Christian should pray about. It was not clear to me that all of the potential Supreme court candidates are prolife. What temptation it would be for the President, who is getting some pressure in the opinion poles recently, to choose a moderate. I would gently point out to the commentator above, that if Kerry were in office, the next judge would be pro-choice, and at least now there is a chance for a pro-life judge to fill the spot. Barring impeachment Bush is the president till 2008 and we must keep up the prayers for his solitude in this issue.
I would gently point out to the commentator above that just as many pre-born children have been legally slaughter over the last 4 or 5 years as would have been killed under Kerry. Bushes action on behalf of the pre-born are token at best.
His statment on the shivo case was we must error on the side of life. The error he made was that he did nothing to save her life, and he has done the same for the pre- born.
The flap over the court is nothing but a smoke screen to keep our focus off of what is going on, and misdirect us from effectual action.
The power to over turn all this, and put this country back on a constitutional course is in the house and senate.
If that power is stripped away, and the constitution desolved by surrendering our sovernty to the world government. we will lose all recourse to save the pre-born.
Mr. Bush is an open globalist. The O’Conner retirement has come at a time when the senate already passed the Central America Free Trade Agreement [CAFTA] It is now going to the house.
Chapter 10 of this agreement [treaty] sets up a tribunal that will basiclly be a supreme court of the western hemisphere.
It is meaningless at that point who Bush puts on the high court.
And in case you have forgotten, Margrett Sangers grandson is the guy over UN policy making on “reproductive rights”.
I say again pro-lifers, wake up bush ain’t our freind.
Right you are Rick Ellis.
Bush is prochoice with exceptions at best.
It is a fool who puts his trust in him.
Rick: I agree with you 100%. Bush has nothing to lose because he is a lame duck. He is actually more dangerous because he is deceptive – he pretends to be pro-life but his actions deny that he is. Now I wouldnt want Kerry in there either but at least he was “out in the open” evil like Clinton. It’s much more difficult when Bush plays this “I’m a good Christian” game.
Thanks guys. I have taken a lot of hits on this stuff.
I once raised my right hand and swore to protect the constitution even unto my own death if nessisary. Now folks get upset when I try to tell them that our commander in chief is selling us out to the UN by endorsing treaties that desolve the very constitution that keeps us free.
he ran on small government, then when elected, tripled the size of government.
He signed into law the patriate act, that the pro-aborts are slobering at the bit to get another janet reno, so they can use this userpation of our liberties to tag pro-lifers as domestic terrorist, and have us thrown in jail with no dew process. The black suburban shows up, and we disapear. No trial by jury of our peers, just a military tribunal, then the brig and/or fireing squad.
[if you think me a wako, does the word rico come to mind?]
Right after 911, he desicrates the national cathedral by letting radical muslam clerics talk to the nation from the pulpit.
This fine “christian” then tells us that islam is a realegion of peace, and has the same God as the bible! Does the word blasphemy come to mind?
His father, mother, and wife are all out spoken pro-choicers.
He is a member of secret sociaties that require pagan rituals, and secret blood oaths to join.
And though he has mentioned Christ, has anyone heard him declare his surrender to the Lordship of Christ?
I think they call it bate and switch in salesmanship.
Not everyone who says Jesus Christ is a true biblical believer. I have had many JW’s come to my door and talk all about Jesus. Am I suposed to accept them as Christian brothers?
It maybe too late to save our republic. The church has been preaching a false passivity for a long time now, and the enemies
Of God and liberty are taking this country without fireing a single shot. We just sit back and allow the communist of the ACLU destroy all that is holy and good about America.
I guess that is enough ranting for now. I will end with this:
“Even now, come Lord Jesus”.
It is not for the Supreme Court to foist their personal beliefs (be they pro-life or pro-choice) on the citizens of the United States. They interpret the law and rule only on legal facts. The Constitution is a document that grants rights, not one that denies them. At the end of the day the best judges will rule in keeping with the law, and not be swayed by personal opinion.

ignorance must be bliss. But let me be the one to bust your leftist bubble.
Point one: No where in the costitution does it give anyone the right to butcher pre-born children. The court ruled that the contitution was ambiguous as to when life begins and should be protected.
This of course is a lie. If you count 40 [the number of generations in the bible by the by] words down in the very first paragraph of the document , you find the word posterity. This word means future generations. In other words, pre-born children are protected by the constitution.
I agree 100% with your last statement. But roe v wade was not the law anywhere. No legislative body made abortion on demand leagal. Your statement is the exact reason roe should be over turned. The court usurped the constitutional authority of the senate and the house of representatives and made law from the bench.
The first amendment of the constitution does indeed denies the “right” of folks owning slaves, and denies the “right” of government to make any law resticting relegion in any way. And yet…
What legal facts did the court use to say that women had the right to kill children?
What amendment secures the right for tiller to suck the brains out of a parcially birthed child, who is an ankle yank away from being a legal human being?
The court foisted their personal belief on 50 million children, and denied them the right to live, which is the very first right granted by our founding documents.
They over turned legal facts missy, not upheld them.
Your self righteous post is evedence that you are tottaly ignorant of the truth, and want to foist your right to kill on another human being. Get educated before you start pontificating on issue, and making stupid statements that have no basis in fact, just like roe v wade itself.
ooops!!
Had a phone call that interupted last post and caused a typo.
It is the 13th thru 15th amendment that denied the right of people to own slaves.
The first amendment denies the right of government to restrict relegion.

i like president Bush and appreciate his strong and principled stand in favor of life.
i’m sorry you feel such a need to bash a great president. in case you didn’t notice, he’s had a lot on his mind what with the worst attack of terrorism in american history. and because of the cowardice and complicity of slick willy, in doing nothing about global terrorism, it fell to this president to take firm and decisive action. and he has. notice we haven’t had any terror attacks since 9-11? guess he must be doing something right.
and every prolife piece of legislation proposed has been endorsed by and/or signed by this president. that’s all he can do, rick. if congress fails to send him strong prolife legislation, then that isn’t his fault. it’s really the fault of so-called “Christian” voters, who continue to A) send proabortion legislators to the senate and house, and b) sit back and complain because one man isn’t able to single-handedly end abortion on demand. after 32 years of legalized baby killing, the tentacles of abortion are everywhere, and ending it will not be an easy task. it may not happen in our lifetime. but we must persevere.
as to this business about the same number of abortions under kerry or bush, that is just not an intelligent comment, rick. the mexico city policy alone belies that. (that has to do with funds going or not going to any organization that promotes abortion overseas.) and i could give other examples of president bush reversing proabortion policies that clinton put into place, that have saved lives. policies that kerry would’ve definitely put back into place, had he been elected.
you refer to life issues institute, and rightfully so, as a great organization. i would urge you to read some of dr. willke’s and brad mattes’ writings on this subject. because they don’t hold to the opinion that bashing bush is the best course of action for prolifers. they recognize that he is doing a good job and is a strong prolifer AND a good Christian man. for one thing, all the judicial nominees that he has put up have been good, strict constructionists, and largely prolife, to the extent that can be determined.
doesn’t the Bible admonish you, rick, not to judge another man’s servant? and yet, here you are, judging another believer, even trying to insinuate that he is not a genuine Christian. the Bible also tells us to pray for our leaders, not to ridicule and mock them, and call them everything but a gentleman.
president bush has firmly opposed any adherence to a world court – and since the treaty you referred to is not law yet – i’m confident that the clause you refer to will be taken out in the conference committee. that’s what happens to a bill when the senate and house versions differ. besides, the house hasn’t passed it, and the president hasn’t signed it.
as far as the comments from robert about bush being prochoice….please. that is such an uneducated and dull comment. do your homework robert. you can go to the national right to life website and see how president bush’s actions, words, and efforts have all been consistently prolife. if he were a legislator, instead of the president, his voting record would be 100% prolife. is that not good enough for you?
“no acts of terrorism since 9/11″ WHAT!!! Do you watch the new?! Perhaps non in our great country, but I do count the deaths of our soldiers by radicals in other countries acts of terrorism. Excuse me but you are DEAD wrong in that statement!
How does that Bushy Kool aide taste there jerry.
Just cause a fella has an R by their name, does not make them righteous.
Your post is evidence of the blindness and ignorence of Americans. We are called to judges [or decern] peoples actions. I say again, Bush’s actions are token at best as far as life is concernd.
It is time we see thru this smoke screen, and realize this man is quickly selling out our right to self governance to the world government of the UN.
I ask again, has anybody heard him say that he has surrendered to the Lordship of Christ?
Everything in my post are a matter of public record. His token lip service, and give me policies, have not saved one pre-born.
He is a big pusher of CAFTA. I say again that chapter 10 of this act of treason, totally abliterates the authority of our court system.
If you are pro-life, and you care about the soverienty of the US, contack your congressman and tell them to vote no on CAFTA. No other single act threatens the life of the pre-born more sence Roe. Which was passed under another republican president by the by.
Your bucket don’t hold water, particularly when your ole budy bush is blowing unconstitutional holes all in it.
Oh ya;
Bill Clinton carried a big ole bible on his way to church must sundays. Are we not suppose to judge his actions because he is a “brother”?
You use the same arguments against me that the lefties use to defend abortion.
HHHHHHMMMMM, very currious indeed!
Bush will have difficulty nominating a strong anti because he has to deal with the recently formed coalition of moderate Democrats and Republicans in the Senate. He also has to deal with a low approval rating for the war in Iraq, which has cost him loyalty from some Republicans who are now more willing to disobey him. If he chooses to be a bitter ender in the case of opposition from the House or Senate he may lose even more support. He also spent much of his “political capital” during the Schiavo dust up. He will probably nominate a radical but will have to settle for at least one moderate Supreme Court nominee.
President Bush has allready gone wayward in other areas and I would not be surprised that he will compromise on the Supprime Court. He is a politican nstead of a statesman.
