Terri Schiavo’s grave-marker falsely indicates she was dead for 15 years.

Clearwater, FL — The photo of Terri Schiavo’s gravestone reveals one of the biggest lies in history. Billions of people from around watched in horror as the state-ordered dehydration death of Terri lasted from March 18-31. I personally witnessed the macabre drama first-hand in Pinellas Park, Florida, while organizing prayer vigils and visiting politicians in an effort to save Terri’s LIFE. Now just three months later, history is being recast.
Terri’s estranged husband, Michael, paid for the tomb marker’s erroneous inscription and detailed the bottom with a defiant personal note to the world: “I kept my promise.” (What exactly did you promise, Michael, and to whom?)
But the worst misrepresentation is the bald-faced lie that Terri “Departed this Earth February 25, 1990.” This informs to the world that Terri had actually died at the time of the mysterious incident that left her disabled, mirroring the Orwellian jargon put forth in her autopsy report, which also indicated that Terri’s cause of death was her brain injury, not the lingering dehydration death we all witnessed live via satellite. Michael and the Chief Medical Examiner of Pasco and Pinellas Counties, Dr. Jon R. Thogmartin are telling us that the disabled are not truly living people and in so doing are attempting to dehumanize the handicapped in order to justify depriving people with disabilities of the right to live. (If they are not alive, they don’t need to be fed, now, do they?)
You see, according to Michael Schaivo’s philosophy, since Terri died 15 years ago, he can therefore, do anything he wanted to her, including depriving her of basic nutrition and hydration. The fact that she still breathed and had a heartbeat was merely a technecality that needed to be overcome. How could Michael and the pro-death crowd so callously redefine live and death, you may ask? Easy! They simply repeat the age-old lie that has been told throughout the ages to justify atrocities and still persists today in American society and thought — that some people are of less value than others.
We have devalued and dehumanized the pre-born children. They can’t speak therefore we can eradicate them at will through abortion. The Supreme Court, in the Dred Scott case dehumanized African slaves, thus it became acceptable to treat them like animals. Tribal Hutus in Rwanda murdered every Tutsi “cockroach” they could find in a similar act of human devaluation. Hitler first dehumanized Jews other “non-Aryans” in order to make the extermination of over six million a tollerable act.
There isn’t a sliver of difference between the death of Terri Schiavo and the millions of other people tragically murdered by abortion, genocide, eugenics, ethnic cleansing, and the Final Solution. Michael Schiavo stands shoulder to shoulder with those in history who would lie to justify the taking of an innocent human life. Today, Satan, whom the Bible describes as the “father of lies,” is very proud.
when i think of the evil that was committed against terri and her family, i remember the story of the beggar and rich man from Luke chapter 16. in this story, the poor beggar (lazarus) just wanted a few crumbs. that’s all. but the rich man didn’t care, and passed him by day after day. then they both died. the beggar went to heaven, and the rich man found himself in hell, tormented. and the rich man begged for just a drop of water, but abraham (a picture of God in the story) told him “…in your lifetime, you had every good thing, while lazarus had the bad things. but now he is enjoying himself here, while you are in pain.”
it’s comforting to know that terri is in heaven right now, enjoying fruit from the tree of life, and water from the river of life, to her heart’s content.
but it’s even more appropriate to imagine the day when michael schiavo cries out for a simple drop of water, but is denied that, based on the way he treated terri.
The reason Terry Schiavo’s death was long and miserable (by dehydration) is because “pro-lifers” have so successfully faught against euthanasia–a quick, painless, lethal injection for those lingering on with no hope to recover, such as Ms. Schiavo. Her death was cruel and unnessary, but it was not due to the “culture of death” it was due to the misnamed and hypocritical “pro-life movment.” Why can’t we give humans a quick painless death? If it’s good enough for cats and dogs, why isn’t it good enough for Terri Schiavo?

Katerina: We are not dogs or cats – we are human beings made in the image and likeness of God. We have an immortal soul which dogs and cats do not have – and NO ONE can play God. From conception to natural death – it’s all in God’s hands. Terri had a purpose in life – maybe not to you but to God. She certainly has done many good things without even realizing it.
I pray to God Almighty that he will touch these murderous people and allow them the opportunity to trust in Jesus. If they don’t ask for forgiveness and repent, they will most assureadly spend eternity in the lake of fire….
The final insult. Indeed. As if there weren’t enough already. Most of us know a bit about the Terri Shiavo case but it frightens me to realize how little attention was paid to it by a great many of her fellow members of the human race. The ones that could have made a difference. The ones that could have tipped the scales. Unfortunately even though the law was on their side our elected and trusted officials lacked the guts or coviction to act upon what they themselves stated to be a moral tragedy. They were bullied by a small time circuit judge. Or were they? Money, votes and a much bigger plan for the future were the actual motives. Now it is done and sickeningly enough accepted by many who have no idea of the ramifications for the future. At first and quietly enough there will be more money saving euthenasia tactics being performed until the snow ball effect takes hold and the avalanche can’t be stopped. The silent law of euthenasia has been going on for some time but now will become the norm for those who are considered less or useless members of our society. Michael Shiavo thinking himself to be quite the guy was nothing more than a pawn in this test case for legal murder. It was allowed to happen by a society of people so bent on their own desires that they no longer have compassion for their fellow man. Soon enough though it will happen to them but it will be to late to cry out because their cries will fall on deaf ears. Those same ears that could have listened to the pleas for mercy and understanding by the parents who even offered to at their own expense mind you take care of Terri. Of course that couldn’t be allowed as it would have caused a much greater rift the next time. Now as the final insult we see a tombstone stating the fact that Terri died 15 years ago at the beginning of her affliction instead of the actual time of her death. Is this meant to mean that she should have died then? Is this the final slap at those who tried in vain to save her? It certainly isn’t a typo to be sure. It’s written in granite for all to see. What will you or your loved ones read? It’s up to you now and may compassion if not common sense guide your actions.

Re: your ridiculous comment about branding above. I think Katerina was trying to point out that those who have no hope of survival, or are doomed to live in the purgatory that Terri Schiavo was destined for for who knows how many years, deserve a peaceful, painless end, NOT death by dehydration.
As branding can never be desribed as humane, (I’ve seen them, uggh!) it should not be used on any animal–human or non-human.

Your statements are simply scripturally inacurate. Only Adam was created in the image of God. All of mankind were begotten [not created] after the likness and kind of our common ancester fallen Adam. If we already bore the completed image of God, why did Jesus tell us we must be born again?

The word God is not always capitalized, even in the scripture. [2 Corinthians 4:4] In the context of false god’s, it is not capitalized, and that is exactly the context of my post.
Why do I need the doctrines of man, [catechism] when the Lord has given me 66 books of His infalible word in the Bible?

Terri was alive before she was brutally and cruelly starved to death. therefore, she was SURVIVING. so your comment that she ‘had no hope of survival’ is just foolish. secondly, if you consider Terri’s condition one of being ‘doomed to live in purgatory’, then i guess we could easily extend that thinking to include paraplegics, the comatose, the elderly, the infirm, Down’s syndrome children, amputees, etc…. sure, they are ‘doomed to live in purgatory’, so why don’t we euthanize them, too, caro? No, in my “world,” humans would do everything they can to reduce suffeirng of humans AND animals. Branding of any sentient being would be illegal. The humane euthansia of animals AND humans would be legal. Obviously, if someone said prior to their death they did not want to be euthanized, but wanted to stay on life-support no matter what their condition, their wish should be respected. I would never support ending someone’s life who doesn’t want it to end, no matter what!
I become so sad and angry, recalling my 94-year old grandfather, paralyzed on one side from a stroke and miserable beyond belief, lying in his hospital bed, sincerely wanting a peaceful end, (ie: to be EUTHANIZED), certainly NOT what he ended up getting, thanks to our “culture of life.”
Also, it is incredibly offensive and outrageous of you to compare Terri Schiavo, who was severely brain damaged, and according to the vast majority of medical expects, had no idea what was going on around her, to the elderly, many of whom are alert, spry, and happy, as well as amputees and paraplegics, who can live almost completely normal lives, living, working, loving, etc., as well as Down Syndrom children, who can do the same with supervision.
I try to live by the golden rule of “do under others.” I would certainly want the option, at the end of my life, to end it peacefully.

Are any of the above comments from Doctors? If not, it seems odd that you would feel inclined to make your own determination of what caused her death. Playing armchair Doctor is not the best way to practice medicine, nor is it acceptable to imply that a medical evaluation of one person constitutes an attempt to dehumanize or deprive the disabled.
As to witnessing the macabre drama, it seems you were a huge contributing factor to the pervasive natural of this drama. By making a circus out of her tragic situation you contributed to reducing her case to merely a vehicle for the spread of your ideological propaganda.
Being “Pro-Life” means you would choose to live in a Vegetative states for the rest of your life as opposed to being relived of your suffering, or is that just for others and not yourselves?
Lets look at the sliver of difference between the death of Mrs. Schiavo and the millions of other people murdered. In pointing out the atrocities that have been carried out in the past you seems that you neglected to include a few. The Crusades, spreading Western Christendom by murdering non-believers, The Spanish Inquisition, converting Muslims and Jews to Christianity by torture and murder, Salem Witch Trails, and so on. Apparently those atrocities done in the name of YOUR religion are expectable. Given that logic then Eric Rudolph should be commended for his actions, not convicted of them.
As for being “Pro-Death” isn’t that the deal with Christianity? Your ultimate reward is your own death to be with God.
A God that condones the justification of taking an innocent life to make that person a believer, is a God that is in fact condoning murder. And that is no more logical than throwing a person off a building to see if it is the fall or the abrupt stop at the bottom that kills them.

Any religion claiming to be Christian, while using force (such as the inquisition) is a perversion of Christianity. Jesus Christ did not teach the use of force.
