San Diego, CA – Documents released today by Operation Rescue show beyond doubt that Audrey Geisel, the widow of Theodore “Dr. Seuss” Geisel has a long history of financially supporting Planned Parenthood.
The documents include a program guide from a 1994 fundraising dinner for Planned Parenthood of San Diego and Riverside Counties, and part of a 2002 PPSDRC newsletter listing Geisel as having given the organization “$1,000 or more” over the previous year. Geisel lives in San Deigo.
PPSDRC was recently accused of bilking taxpayers out of more than $5 million over a two-year period by “egregiously” over billing government programs meant to service the poor.
The question of Geisel’s support for the world’s largest abortion organization were raised when pro-lifers disrupted the premier showing of the movie “Horton Hears A Who,” which was attended by Geisel and a number of celebrities, including Jim Carrey, Steve Carell, and the twelve American Idol finalists. The pro-lifers chanted the movie’s theme “A person’s a person, no matter how small,” then stood around the theater wearing red tape over their mouths inscribed with the word “LIFE.”
Audrey Geisel’s attorney refused to comment on questions of her support for Planned Parenthood. At least one entertainment web site reported that the pro-lifers’ use of the theme of the movie “did not sit well” with her.
“It has been well known for years around San Diego that the Geisels were pro-abortion and active supporters of the local Planned Parenthood affiliate,” said Operation Rescue spokesperson Cheryl Sullenger, who lived in San Diego for 23 years. “Many years ago, I remember seeing Dr. Seuss at a Planned Parenthood fundraiser that we were protesting. People find it hard to believe that someone who could write such amazing children’s stories could support the brutal killing of innocent children through abortion. His wife, Audrey, has been very active in her support for the abortion group over the years, and our documents prove that.”
“No matter how pro-life the message may appear, people need to be aware that some of the money people spend on Dr. Seuss books and movies ends up in the coffers of Planned Parenthood and ultimately helps perpetuate the killing of innocent children through abortion,” said Sullenger. “It is something they should think hard about before they buy their tickets to ‘Horton Hears A Who.’”

What a “conflict of interest.” When you hear the underlying theme of what motivates people with money and power it is shocking and frightening to realize these people are the ones who have the influence over our country and control over our future with their hypocritical lives which appear good from the casual observer, but underneath lies the sinful beliefs of an un Godly world.
To think that she is for abortion…but was married to a man who wrote books for children….do you see how sick and twisted this world is!! Talk about hypocrite!!!!
I think we will DEFINATELY not be supporting anything Suess from now on!!!!
Hopefully this information will make pastors think twice before hosting the series, “The Gospel According to Dr. Suess”.
God has such a wonderful way of taking something evil and creating something good from it. I believe this is the situation with Dr. Seuss. ‘Horton Hears a Who” is a wonderful PRO-LIFE story and we should all continue to use it. Perhaps Dr. Seuss’s motives were selfish, but his story can still be a useful tool in carrying the message that all life is sacred—no matter at what stage. If nothing else, think of the irony. Dr. Seuss’s greatest tale is being used to support the Pro-Life movement, when he, himself, was an abortion supporter. God works in mysterious ways.
From what I have read, Seuss threatened to sue several pro-life groups for using his phrase, “A Person Is A Person No Matter How Small.” It’s true! sounds great! Very descriptive of a baby inutero. I would not support the movie because of the pro-choice values and threats from Audrey Feisel and Seuss. I suppose they have a patent on that phrase? Odd. Back down from confrontation on the issue. I don’t think so. Because A Person Is A Person No Matter How Small! It makes one think and certainly this Audrey Feisel needs to “think about the statement!” God bless everyone who feels this way!
I gave Horton Hears a Who to a friend who almost aborted her baby. she decided at the last minute to have her child and I gave her the book among her shower gifts. I wrote in it that there is a great truth in the book. I hoped she would read it to her little girl and that the words would jarr her and get her to think how she almost threw her baby away. I had no idea my money was going to support abortion! I will NEVER buy any more Dr. Seuss books!!!! Dr. Seuss’s widow looks elderly…she better watch out..shes setting up the culture of death which might lead to her own euthanazation. These people never think that their support of the death culture could one day come back and bite em.
Sarah, right you are!
We, on our family nite we’re making plans to see this movie. We’ll look for something else now.
