38 Abortion-Free Days In Nation’s Abortion Capital

Wichita, Kansas, is the site of Women’s Health Care Services, the most notorious abortion mill in the United States, where George R. Tiller aborts pre-born children from the earliest to the latest stages of pregnancy. Tiller currently faces 19 years in jail for committing illegal abortions.

With the recent temporary closing of Women’s Health Care Services, the Nation’s Abortion Capital, Wichita, Kansas, has been abortion-free for 38 out of the last 52 days. [From July 1 through August 21, 2007]

No babies have been killed by abortion in Wichita for a record 25 straight days to date. [Ending on August 21, 2007]

This number exceeds the previous record of eleven consecutive abortion-free days set in 1991 during OR’s Summer of Mercy Rescues, making the summer of 2007 truly a Summer of God’s Mercy.

Operation Rescue has been committed to prayer and action to end the killing in Wichita. Our tactics have changed since 1991, and now, instead of closing abortion clinics for a few hours, we have successfully focused on working to permanently close abortion clinics across the nation. Last year, we bought and closed the only other abortion mill in Wichita, Central Women’s Services. All local hospitals insist that they do not allow abortions in their facilities.

Please join with Operation Rescue in praying for a permanent end to child-killing through abortion, not only in Wichita, but across the nation.

All PRAISE to our King of Kings JESUS– LORD of CREATION! May Jesus send convicting thoughts and images, night visions and dreams to George Tiller, and all his associates, during this time when he and they are not “shedding innocent blood.” May the Holy Spirit pierce the “hearts” of George Tiller and his associates with the TRUTH that cannot be denied–there is a JUDGE they all will face one day. There is a Heaven to gain; there is a Hell to fear. May George Tiller and his associates truly repent of their sins, and call upon the NAME of JESUS. “Though our sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow,” if we repent before the Righteous One. That verse kept coming back and coming back, as I stood in the snow in Wichita in January during “A Cry for Justice.” While talking with another woman, who had gone to Tiller for an abortion years earlier, she mentioned that a verse had been coming again and again to her as she stood praying outside the abortuary. It was the same verse.
To all who of us who were there in 1991, then in 2001, and all the “faithful” who have been there weekly, or in other events–may this be a fulfillment of all the prayers and sacrifices, that have been “laid on the altar” before our Lord ,awaiting His perfect timing for an end to the bloodshed; Justice for the babies; and repentance, healing, and salvation to those who have made decisions and taken action to shed “innocent blood.”

May this butcher never return to practice his grisly trade.

  4. Is Tiller the only abortionist in Wichita? Or is somebody picking up some of his slack?

  5. Operation Rescue says:

    Christina,

Tiller is the only abortionist in Wichita. He is currently referring late-terms to a well-known Colorado abortionist and early terms to Oklahoma and Kansas City. There is a Planned Parenthood office here, but they do not do abortions. Right now, Wichita is abortion free.

  6. Is Tiller keeping the clinic closed voluntarily, or is he being ordered by the law? Do we know exactly why it is closed?

  7. Vivian Skovgard says:

It is such a joy to know that babies are not being slaughtered at Killer Tiller’s for 18 straight days and counting! Thank you dear Lord. Thank you! And all thinking people pray that that death chamber will close it’s doors forever! And we all say a mighty AMEN!!

  8. A question, please:

A pretty obnoxious pro-abort site reports that Tiller’s clinic is closed due to remodelling.

That sounds a bit hard to fathom. I suspect it’s false.

Does anyone on site have any basis to comment on this report firsthand? Are contractor’s vans coming and going? Are workmen carrying tools into the premises? Are employees going in? Does it look like any business (at all, not just abortions) is being carried on?

    Regards,
    Frank

    Frank,

I keep a pretty close eye on things at Tiller’s and can tell you with confidence that there are no contractors coming and going from Tiller’s mill. There’s no trash or remodeling rubble being removed or anything. A skeleton crew of about 3-5 female clinic workers come in each day, but I can guarantee these ladies are not doing drywall! There is absolutely no sign of any remodeling. Tiller shows up occasionally in casual attire. There also is one security guard on duty.

Tiller’s attorney, Lee Thompson said that the clinic was closed due to “increased protests and vandalism.” Tiller’s clinic was reportedly vandalized sometime during the first week in July. However abortions continued there for 3 weeks after that, so the vandalism and remodeling excuses for closing the clinic fall flat to those of us who can see what is really going on there.

    Anonymous,

Could the staff be cleaning up bookwork?

  11. Anon:

“Tiller’s attorney, Lee Thompson said that the clinic was closed due to “increased protests and vandalism.””

–I thought Tiller had no fear of protests.

–Three weeks is way too long time to be closed for alleged vandalism.

That sounds like classic lawyerspeak to me.

  12. Us folk in Liverpool NY are so very happy this creep hasn’t killed a baby in 33 days. Our hope is George will abort his pratice.

“A skeleton crew of about 3-5 female clinic workers come in each day…”

    Skeleton crew. How apropos.

The lame excuses for Tiller’s current closure is a telling example of the nonspeak used by the cheerleaders of our culture of death. That they are compelled to fabricate excuses for not butchering even more women and children is horrific testament to the depth to which their hearts and minds have sunk.

During this week of the feasts of the Assumption of Mary and her devoted St. Maximilian, martyr of Auschwitz, let us continue praying for the conversion of those like Lee Thompson, who keep blood flowing at America’s death camps.

  14. Lee Thompson? Tiller himself? It’s bad enough people sell their souls. It’s even more amazing how cheaply some people will sell them for.

  15. “Tiller’s attorney, Lee Thompson said that the clinic was closed due to “increased protests and vandalism.””

Yea, right! Tiller didn’t close for any extended period when his clinic was bombed in 1986…

    http://www.dr-tiller.com/bombing.htm

And I think both the 1986 and 2007 incidents of vandalism were “inside jobs”.

And “protests” shut him down? His clinic was shut off from the world by a wall of protests in 1991…

    http://www.dr-tiller.com/mercy.htm

and Tiller still made at least a pretense of being open during most of those 6 weeks.

And after he was shot in 1993…

    http://www.dr-tiller.com/shooting.htm

Tiller made a point of going back to work the next day while still in bandages from surgery.

So why is he closed now? It’s a mystery to me for sure!

  16. John Francis Borra says:

The hiatus at Tiller’s death mill is wonderful, to be sure. However, it’s dangerous to believe that Wichita is “abortion free.” It is anything but. Consider the following:

    1. Many OBGYNs perform abortion as a matter of course; they just don’t advertise it, for obvious reasons. Consider that the Almighty Dollar is the most appealing god most Americans (including physicians) have… and that most have effectively divorced any faith they might profess from anything resembling morality. More than a few surgical abortions occur every day in Wichita, usually under the guise of “D&C”.

    2. RU486, the abortion drug regimen, is available and distributed everywhere there are physicians and pharmacists who’ve sold their souls.

    3. The ubiquitous contraceptive IUD works by causing abortion (unless you’re “pro-choice” and somehow convince yourself that life begins at implantation, rather than conception).

    4. OTC birth control pills and patches cause occasional abortions. And NOT infrequently. This occurs because these chemical contraceptives make the uterine lining inhospitable to the occasional fertilized egg. While my stats might be off somewhat, I think it’s reasonable to conclude that in a metro area the size of Wichita, several dozen abortions occur every day due to the lethal effects of contraceptives alone.

It’s important to understand the true scope and insidious nature of our culture of death. Many couples who’d never consider resorting to abortion to avoid parenthood abort nonetheless through contraceptives. It’s a simple and sobering fact that the oft-quoted figure of roughly 1.5 million surgical abortions performed in the US annually is dwarfed by a more accurate number that includes these other methods of killing.

The evil of contraception– by any means– is something far too few appreciate. It cleaves marriages and promotes the abuse of the great gift of our sexuality; far from freeing couples to be more intimate, it encourages selfishness and ensures their disunity.

It’s no wonder abortion thrives today. After all, contraception is now thoroughly enculturated in the industrialized world. Where there is contraception, there is a grievous lack of understanding of– or concern for– the relationship between God and his people and a corresponding lack of respect for the human person.

With this sort of mindset, not only abortion, but euthanasia and every other abuse of the human person follows.

  17. Stephanie says:

    John,

    Amen and amen!

  18. to Denise,

I “third” the scripture quote, “though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow.” I expect most of us who were around Wichita’s little Auschwitz last January thought of that verse!

I recall standing one day last January on the porch of the CPC next to Tiller’s, watching the snowflakes landing so gently on the black railing of the front steps. As I stood there, I could not help thinking on that verse… Thousands of them, each one so tiny, so lovely, so delicate, so unique, so exquisite and intricate in design…and each one so short-lived, as it melted away just about as quickly as it landed; reminded me of the of little boys and girls whose black ashes rise out of Tiller’s smokestack…thousands of them, each one so tiny, so lovely, so delicate, so unique, so exquisite and intricate in design…

Let Tiller come and reason with God, and repent of his “melting” these little children as soon as they come to earth…or he will wish that he could escape the fires of Hell as ash, and no snowfall will cool his burns. It doesn’t look likely; at least let him not resume his senseless slaughter of the innocent.

  19. Denise Holland says:

To Flynn and all precious pro-lifers,
In 1967, after graduating from college, I visited relatives in England and also went to Holland. I visited the Anne Frank house and spent a couple of hours reading the articles from people who had known Anne–a couple of them from people who had known her in the camp before she died. As I exited the building, I stood on the doorstep hearing the bell from the church that she would have heard. As I stood there, I wondered what I would do if such a “murderous spirit” would come to America.
Unknown to me at that time in my life, Colorado became for first state to legalize abortion–1967. When Leslie, from Colorado Right to Life, spoke to those of us in Wichita this past January and shared her “heart” about that infamous action by her state, I shared with her how our state of Washington was, and still is, the only State where the citizens voted to legalize abortion–1970. As I look back on that “doorstep moment” at the Anne Frank House in 1967, I believe I “unknowingly” was being given a “head’s up” by Jesus Who knows all.
Thank you, Flynn, for being there this January, and any other time you, and so very many in our land have taken action against our American Holocaust!
I firmly believe that the the “only” HOPE that keeps many pro-lifers going is because there IS a Righteous Judge Who will dispense JUSTICE! There IS a Saviour Who accepts a truly repentant “heart!” There IS a Father Who tenderly carries His babies into His World!! There IS our LORD Who hears our petitions!
May the “heart” of our fellow Americans reject the “attitude of abortion”–the baby has value only if the “mother” gives the baby value. God made us in His Image–that is our value! May this TRUTH crescedo across our land and may there be a GREATER “outcry” to our lawmakers, than there was on the recent
“immigration bill.” Only when we reject the “abortion attitude” and the resulting “right to kill,” will the LORD hear our prayer, forgive our sin, and heal our land. This “abortion attitude”– “you” have value ONlY if “I” give you value–is causing horrific bloodshed in our homes, our schools, our neighborhoods. It must be purged from our land!
