Kansas Set To Become First Abortion-Free State, Court Hearing Set Friday.

BREAKING! Planned Parenthood was granted a last minute abortion license. After midnight tonight, Kansas will have only one abortion clinic. A hearing will be held at 3pm Friday on the 2 other clinic’s request for a temporary restraining order. This situation is changing by the hour, so check back for updates!

Planned Parenthood was denied an abortion license today. All three abortion clinics seek a restraining order to stay in business.

Kansas City, KS – The Kansas Department of Health and Environment today denied an abortion license to Planned Parenthood in Overland Park under a new law set to go into full effect on Friday, July 1. Planned Parenthood filed suit to block the implementation of the new safety regulations within minutes of being denied a license.

Earlier, Aid for Women in Kansas City was notified that they would not be granted a license based on information provided in their application. Father-daughter abortionist team Herbert Hodes and Traci Nauser cancelled their scheduled inspection this week and instead filed suit against the law. Aid For Women joined in that suit yesterday.

When asked about the new abortion safety regulations, Hodes told the Associated Press, “We’re doomed.”

Yesterday, Operation Rescue discovered that Federal Magistrate K. Gary Sebelius had been assigned to hear the court challenge filed by Hodes. Sebelius is the husband of HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, who, as Kansas governor, vetoed similar abortion safety rules and actively worked to protect abortionists from accountability under the law. Operation Rescue immediately called for his recusal. In a speedy victory, Sebelius filed to recuse today along with presiding Judge Richard D. Rogers.

The case has been reassigned to Clinton-appointee Judge Carlos Murguia, with whom a hearing has been scheduled for Friday. All three clinics are seeking a temporary restraining order against the law. Operation Rescue plans to attend the hearing.

“Through our many years of experience, Operation Rescue has found that abortion clinics and the abortion staff hate being regulated and inspected. It is no surprise that these shoddy abortion clinics refuse the most basic standards like wash sinks, proper medications on hand, and emergency resuscitation equipment,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

“Abortion providers are far from heart surgeons. They represent the worst the medical community has to offer. If the last three abortion clinics in Kansas cannot comply with the new safety laws then they should do us all a favor and close up shop forever.

“A review of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment records shows that not one single abortion has ever been performed on a woman in Kansas to save her life. It is a fact that abortion is a purely elective procedure for mothers to terminate their pre-born children’s lives.”

Kansas City, KS – The father-daughter abortionist team of Herbert Hodes and Traci Nauser filed suit in Federal Court yesterday to block the implementation of a new Kansas abortion clinic safety law that requires offices that supply five or more abortions per month to pass inspections and become licensed by the state.

The abortionists have cancelled a scheduled inspection of their Center for Women’s Health abortion clinic in Overland Park and are seeking a temporary restraining order to block implementation of the new law. No hearing date had been set as of this writing.

The Federal magistrate assigned to the case is K. Gary Sebelius, the husband of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, who is also the former governor of Kansas. While governor, Kathleen Sebelius vetoed similar clinic safety bills on at least three occasions.

“We were shocked to learn that Mr. Sebelius could have anything to do with this case. His wife’s administration worked actively to shield abortionists from any accountability under the law. We call on Mr. Sebelius to immediately recuse himself,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

Also yesterday, the head of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment issued a statement saying that none of the clinics inspected so far have passed. If Hodes and Nauser fail to block implementation of the law, Kansas could become the first abortion-free state as of July 1.

Besides the Hodes clinic, there are two other abortion clinics in Kansas. Aid for Women in Kansas City has already been denied a license based on information in their application. Planned Parenthood of Overland Park was inspected last week and still contends that it can be in compliance with the new law by the July 1 deadline, but the KDHE has not yet issued it a license.

“Kansas has a history of having some of the worst abortion clinics in the nation. The abortionists have fought licensing and inspections for years because they know they provide substandard services that simply cannot meet up to even the most basic health and safety standards,” said Newman. “Can you imagine any other business refusing to comply with the law? What if a restaurant suddenly stopped submitting to health inspections, or a factory barring OSHA from inspecting, or a coal plant telling the EPA to jump off. Abortionists want to be in a different category, one that is above the law, and that is a dangerous attitude to have in any profession. If abortion clinics cannot or will not clean up as required by law, they deserve to be closed.”

Planned Parenthood Sues to Keep Tax Funding While Facing Criminal Charges

Topeka, KS – Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri has filed suit against the state of Kansas to restore $330,000 in funding that had been re-allocated to reputable health care centers. Planned Parenthood faces 107 criminal charges – including 23 felonies – related to illegal late-term abortions and the manufacturing of evidence to cover up the crimes.

The new law signed by Gov. Sam Brownback in May reprioritizes how the tax money is allocated, putting organizations that supply abortions at the bottom of the list.

While Planned Parenthood claims that the funding goes to their Wichita and Hays clinics that do not do abortions, these clinics are known to be abortion referral clinics, or “feeder clinics”, that draw in potential abortion customers then schedules them for abortions at Planned Parenthood’s Overland Park abortion mill.

“To say that the feeder clinics don’t have anything to do with abortions is an outrageous misrepresentation of the truth,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “The Wichita and Hays clinics actually solicit abortion business for their Overland Park counterpart and serve as partners in the abortion business. Blocking funding to them is consistent with the federal law against spending tax money for abortions.”

There is question as to whether Planned Parenthood will be able to continue doing abortions legally after July 1. Spokespersons for Planned Parenthood told reporters that the abortion clinic passed a recent inspection under another new Kansas law that provides minimum health and safety standards for abortion clinics. However, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment has been mum on whether or not it has qualified to receive a license.

Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood’s Overland Park clinic will be in court on July 15 for motions in the massive 107 count criminal case against the abortion giant. The case has dragged on since 2007 and was blocked by the previous administration, which sought to protect Planned Parenthood from prosecution. The case is now moving forward.

“Just the fact that Planned Parenthood faces so many criminal charges is enough reason to stop propping them up with our tax-dollars,” said Newman. “It’s like giving tax-money to prop up Al Capone.”
