Two pro-lifers found “Not Guilty” of trespassing at a Las Vegas abortion mill in spite of Judge’s outburst.
Las Vegas, NV — Pro-lifers Nathaniel Enyart and Operation Rescue missionary Keith Mason were both found not guilty on Thursday, July 28, 2005, of trespassing at the Birth Control Care Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The two had faced up to six months in jail and a $1000 fine.
The charges stemmed from an incident in February, 2004, when Enyart and Mason were with a group of young people peacefully picketing the abortion mill on the sidewalk.
“When we were asked to leave the sidewalk in front of the abortion mill, we did immediately,” said Mason. “On my way back to my vehicle, one of the officers asked me to stay for a few minutes to discuss the situation. I complied, and was arrested along with Nathaniel.”
The pair was put through 18 months of legal wrangling and a trial that was plagued by lengthy delays. In the midst of the proceedings, one judge was forced to recuse himself for bias after launching into “a vein-bulging, red-faced diatribe,” according to witnesses.
Judge Cedric A. Kerns handed down a “Not Guilty” verdict for Enyart shortly after the defense attorney’s closing arguments on Thursday morning. However, the judge maintained that he had several matters to review and could not finish his verdict for Mason until the close of a two-hour lunch break.
“After arriving back at the courthouse, I was stunned to hear the judge say ‘I want to throw your butt in jail!’” said Mason. “Fortunately, the judge was unable to do so because of two minor details. First, the abortion mill is located at 872 East Sahara Avenue, but the citation I received stated the address as 872 West Sahara Avenue. Secondly, because it was clear on the videotape that I was standing five feet from the property line, it was not possible to convict me of trespassing.”
“In conclusion to the long saga of our arrest at the Birth Control Care Center in Las Vegas, God has confounded the enemy with the small things, and used your prayers for another pro-life victory,” said Mason. “Each battle truly belongs to the Lord, and all praise to Him for delivering us from our adversaries.”
Birth Control Care Center boasts on their web site that, “Protesters don’t bother us, as they have no access closer than one block.”

I have lived in Las Vegas,Nevada my whole life. This town does not care about the unborn at all! There are groups of Roman Catholics praying the Rosary every week(which is wonderful). But there is no real action. How can I motivate people here, a call to action and caring? Deborah

Judge Kerns should have no doubt as to why some people are willing to take direct action against people like himself when he expresses his contempt for innocent defendants who don’t fit in with his immoral and political viewpoint.
Pro-Abortion zealots frequently say they want abortions to be “safe, legal and RARE”. HA. This abortion mill actually BRAGS on thier website that “This is demonstrated by the fact that over 50% of our patients are prior patients or referred by them.”. Guess they have no desire to keep abortions RARE! They want the return business!
I am Pro-Choice. However, I also agree that you have a right to picket and let people hear your voice. Realize though, that your voice is a Christian one and that all of America does not have to conform to your standards. Some don’t even believe in your bible. Keep that in mind when you are being nosey and imposing your beliefs on other people’s lives. I do not pretend to know everything about God, but what I do know is that he is a loving God and probably would not want to be used for your moral agenda. He would not look down upon people going in and out of that clinic but try to give them love and support. Do you think you are supporting women by spreading ridiculas propaganda? Maybe your heart is in the right place, but let’s not forget that the mother is also a person and JUST AS important as the baby inside her!
First off, Leann, I don’t know of any prolifers who yell and scream at the women. I do however, know prolifers who have offered, and have adopted the women’s babies so that the woman could have a life, the baby could have a life, and the woman would not suffer for years for what she had done!Also, that clinic here in LV brags on their website that protesters cannot be there to “harass” the patients. That is what they call praying, however, prolifers are still out there once a week. We need to make it more often.

In response to Leann’s comments. We are not out at abortion mills spreading propaganda. We are out there telling the women going in that their unborn child is worthy of life and worthy of love. Many women turn their hearts toward their precious children and turn away from these killing centers. Yes the woman is just as important as her baby but the baby is in immediate danger of being killed once she goes through the door of one of these terrible places. Get informed Leann. Abortion is America’s holocaust. We are killing our future and causing untold sorrow to the mothers and their families. I used to pray and counsel at Birth Control Care Center before I moved to San Francisco and I have never met a woman who regretted choosing life for her child.
Its a shame that there arent any pro-lifers to try to talk women out of goinng in to that well kept death clinic.We all know the pain and suffering that goes on behind those walls.These women will have regrets one day-unless they bleed ice cubes.Shame on that judge.
If anyone reads this just want people to know that my husband and I have been ministering at this clinic on a weekly basis since January of 2007.
Praise the Lord that He has raised up faithful Christians to bring His presence to intervene for those who are being led to slaughter!!!
