For all their talk about wanting abortion to be safe, it's odd that the Jane activists didn't bring the women to Dr. Spencer or Dr. Timanus -- guys who were reputable physicians in spite of being abortionists. No, they brought them to a freak like Harvey Karman. Thirty-eight years later, an abortion facility in Maryland -- which we can safely assume is run by prochoicers, not prolifers -- sent Karnamaya to a quack who'd been sued 10 times for gross malpractice and had already killed one woman. Do they not investigate these places? Or are they all that crummy? I've told the prochoicers that come to my blog, I'm not trying to convert them to prolife. I'm trying to get them to put their money where their mouths are and start demanding some accountability from prochoice organizations and facilities. Demand that NAF actually do what they say they do -- inspect the facilities and boot out dirty quacks. Demand that prochoice organizations actually do a little research before referring women to abortionists. That seems to be stuff that they'd be doing on their own, if they really meant what they say about safety.
